View Full Version : Be my date for THE HULK Thursday night!

I have free passes, but my huzzie can't join me. I could ask a non-movie-geek friend, but I figure a Schmoe would be more fun.
Anyway, anyone in the NYC area who'd like to join me, let me know. Show's 6/19 at 7 pm in Manhattan. I'll probably get there hours earlier to get a good seat.

That's really cool of you, FeverDog. I'm eargerly anitcipating The Hulk, but sadly can't join you, I live in Florida...
That'd be awesome if another schmoe could, though.... ohhh baby, a schmoe date! That's fucking awesome!

Oh yeah, I like this idea. I can see newspaper headlines now:

Ok, fine. Fa all y'alls!!!
Guess I'll have to scrounge other boards, or my quote-unquote "loser buds." Surely somebody will join me in cinematic summer lobotomized bliss!
And don't call me Shirley.

AAAARRRRRGHHHHH!!!!! (Hulk style) If only I weren't an entire hemisphere away!! I'd love to take you up on this, not only coz it's The Hulk, but mainly because I'd be seeing it with a like-minded movie-loving schmoe. Who probably knows the best places to get a post-flick drink in NYC, where we could sit and discuss the movie afterward. Whoever you end up with, Fever, I'm there with you in spirit, pal!
(Note: I'm also envious because Hulk isn't due to be released Down Under until the rest of the planet's seen it...damn my bad career decisions, I'm living in the ONE place that gets film releases last...*sob*...)

I'm quite tempted to take you up on it, FeverDog, since I'm only an hour or so away from NYC, but I dunno that I could arrange it at short notice.
I hope to meet at least one Schmoe someday...

Uh, how can this Eric Bana film be held up down there???

Uh, you've got almost a week! How's that "short notice"?

Well, maybe it's not "short notice", but I'm a plan-aheader. :) I dunno that I could work it out, though, since I've got work that day, plus I have an irrational fear of driving in the city, and I dunno that I could drive there if I wanted to.
I'll let you know if I can work it out, tho. Sounds like it'd be fun.

Actually FeydRautha we get The Hulk only 6 days after it hits the cinemas in the US> Australia has it set for June 26th. So, no offence, that isn't that big of a wait, considering hwo long other films take, we could wait a lot longer.

If I were less than 3000 miles away, then I'd surely join you. Bu trust me, you don't want me. I'd make you pay the food bills, eat with my mouth open, talk during the movie, all culminating the next morning when your hubby sees me exit your house, zipping my pants up, telling him it's not what he thinks, and running for the hills. Next morning:

Sorry, FilmBuff, I'm speaking as an ex-pat who's lived in the US and England, and remember when I used to be able to go see first releases. Not counting blockbusters like "The Hulk", of course...in that case we're only a mere week behind the rest of the planet. Smaller films....forget it, we're at the arse-end of the distribution chain (if they ever get here at all).
This should answer your question, too, Fever...for some reason I've never been able to fathom, films get released in the Southern Hemisphere last. Even films that have been MADE down here, like "Moulin Rouge" and the Matrix series.
Well, that's my rant. Sorry I can't join you at the Eight of Clubs for a drink and a chat (I'd bring Tim Tams, y'know....)

I live in New York :D But I don't have much desire to see this movie :(. I bet electriclite is kicking herself because she lives here too and she's dying to see the movie, but she's in florida for the summer.

That's okay, I guess, since we're just now getting the blockbuster-to-be Aussie import The Hard Word...
So nobody wants to go? Oh well, if his huzzie Dave is tending bar that night, I'll ask my buddy Derek, even if he was the one who hooked me up with that ghastly Jackass bootleg a while back...
That's too bad no schmoes here seem to be able to join you Fever. If I was in New York, I'd definitely go. I plan on just renting The Hulk on video, but if I was there I'd go anyway, it could be fun. Man, I haven't met a schmoe yet, but I really hope to someday, it would be cool to have someone that's a movie buff too to hang out with. I don't know anybody who likes movies as much as I do :(. I do have two friends who are obsessed with video games though, but that's not the same ;).
I'm still debating on whether or not I should move to New York or California, but if I decide to go with New York, maybe I can take a raincheck. At least it seems that there's quite a few schmoes living around there, so then I'd be able to meet some other people who actually share the same interest as me. There's certainly not many schmoes here from Minnesota.

I regret highly not being able to take FeverDog up on this, really I do. I said the "short notice" thing because of how remarkably sheltered I am; a trip to NYC (which is a place I truly love, by the way) is a big event for me. But then I was very happy it looked like I might actually be able to go after all, and it's one of my big dreams is to meet a Schmoe in person one day, particularly a foxy like FeverDog420 ( ;) ). Alas, though, it was not meant to be, since I've got sudden family obligations on that day that I can't get out of, however much I want to.
Fuckin family...
Sorry FeverDog. Hope I didn't come across as an asshole who didn't want to meet up with you in my first post here...

What's the problem - does it conflict with your "Hulk" evening? If not, I'd say go to both.
If the answer's yes, however, well...I guess it depends on how much you love baseball. I suppose you could go see The Hulk anytime.

Well, I wound up going alone, and now I wish I'd chosen to hear the Rocket speak. My thoughts on the movie are in General Movie Talk.
