WIDESCREEN tv set??

ok, im going to pick up a widescreen set tomorrow..it is HITACHI and 38" set...

i have read where people say if i am watching a 2:35 ratio dvd on a widescreen set that i sill STILL see tiny black bars at the top and bottom..is this true??if so, the bars arent as big as if i was watching a 1:85 ratio dvd on a NORMAL tv set is it??just curious..

also, i have heard that while watching REGULAR TV on a widescreen tv set that there will be GREY BARS at the sides of the screen??is this true, cuz if it is i think that it would be pretty annoying..is there any way of eliminating those grey bars and STILL keeping high picture clarity??

well Bry Bry its tommorow. What's the verdict??? Are there grey bars? I also want a Widescreen 16:9 Tv and am interested in attaining answers to these questions.

Yes...when watching full fram material in "normal" mode, there are grey bars on the side. The only drawback to that is the gray bars, if left on long enough, will "burn in" the screen, leaving dull images where the gray bars are located. But on my dvd player, it has progressive scan capability, and for full frame material, it creates black bars on the side, and this prevents actual t.v burn in. I own an HDTV toshiba, widescreen, and i have no problem watching the full frame material with black bars.
