I'm sorely tempted to get the "Alien" trilogy on DVD, but I already have the VHS editions. I mean shit, what's a guy to do? Same for "Se7en," my friends tell me that the DVD rocks and I should get it no matter what. Yet, the video is in reasonably good shape and all. Anyone else have that problem?

When I first got my DVD player i swore to myself that I wouldn't buy dvd's that I had on film. That didn't last long at all as I started looking at all the special editions available out there. Hell I'm about to my first movie on dvd that I already own on dvd with the release of the special edition Almost Famous.

Hell, I started buying DVDs of movies I owned on VHS off the bat (with "Dark City"). I have two forthcoming purchases of DVDs to replace earlier DVD purchases ("Monty Python and the Holy Grail" and the "Almost Famous" SE).

Yeah I started out saying I wouldn't replace tapes but then I saw all the features and had to start the inevitable task. I even replaced a DVD, the special edition Carrie ousted the bare bone original which in turn ousted the VHS tape.

I am planning on replacing all of my vhs to dvd and I am keeping my laserdiscs as well ( because they contain extras the dvd versions do not) Why? because you do know that this formatted to fit your screen shit allows the movie to lose vital information within shots and when two are having a conversation you do not see them both no you see one then the other then back to one again, what the hell am I a ping pong ball? Yeah some vhs editions are reissues and letterboxed but after awhile your tape will have wear and tear and appear washed out eventually. DVD does not have the same wear and tear problems and they last a hell of alot longer. I think you would be a fool not to replace your videos with higher technology that would be like still listening to 8 tracks do you still do that??? http://www.joblo.com/ubb/tongue.gif
