2000 has been an extremely lackluster year for movies. Anyway, Patriot won't win anything. It was panned by critics and fans alike.

Yah I agree with ya, it's a bad year at the movies, but I think The Patriot will be nominated... it's a pretty good film in my opinion...

I can't wait for the new Guy Ritchie flick to come out entitled "Snatch". People are describing it as Fight Club meets Lock Stock...if it lives up to these standards this will be THE movie of the year. Look at it this way from my perspective, Lock Stock was the best movie of 1999 and Fight Club was close behind at 2nd. They are both somewhere like 5 and 6 or 6 and 7 on my top 10 list of all time. Combine the two and u got one hell of a fuckin movie. But of course it won't be nominated for Jack shit cuz it ain't the type of movie the public wants to see.

Wonder Boys is so deserving of an oscar pick, but they really only pay attention to the final quarter of the year when it comes to oscar picks. Michael Douglas and Christain Bale may receive best actor nods, other than that though I don't see anything so far this year grabbing any of the major awards.

They are rereleasing Wonder Boys which gives it a very good fighting chance. As for Christian Bale he will not be nominated unfortunately American Psycho is not Oscar material.
As for my Oscar picks, I'm guessing on a lot of as yet unreleased movies but...
Gladiator
Traffic (Soderbergh's other movie this year, it has a huge cast and it's an "issue" movie, about drugs...with the cast and director it will be well-done and these types of movies are guaranteed a nomination)
Chocolat (Trust me, after The Cider House Rules last year, Chocolat will be nommed)
Erin Brockovich (ugh!)
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (A film soon to be coming out directed by Ang Lee with Chow Yun-Fat, after all the critical lauding and film fest awards, it will be this years Life is Beautiful)
Other Possibilities:
Almost Famous
Requiem For A Dream
Wonder Boys
You Can Count On Me
The contender

American Psycho is one of the worst (probably the worst) I have seen this year, while Joblo thinks it's the BEST film this year so far....

While The Patriot is a decent movie. I just can't see it winning anything. The movie is not that deserving.
