Plot- The plot revolves around a young married woman whose mundane life takes a turn for the worse when she strikes up a passionate and illicit affair with an oddball discount-store stock boy who thinks he's Holden Caulfield.

My Thoughts- I think this started out great. I really enjoyed the first 15-20 minutes. But after that it just kind of driffted off. The acting was great. Jenniger Anisten did a great job with her role, and is deffinatly one of the best actress' of 2002. John C. Riley was also really good with his role. But he is good in just about anything he is in (Boogie Nights, Chicago).
The script was okay, nothing to brag about though. The script itself was quite funny, "It was that perverted priest!" But the story had some slow parts, and during the middle turned into a mess.
**SPOILERS**
The death of Gwen did surprise me a bit though. And Holden's suicide was very predictable.
**END SPOILERS**
I would recommend this to anyone really. It doesn't have that hard of an "R" rating. It had very little swearing in it, and very little nudity. I'm sure a lot of people wouldn't like this because it is very slow, but even though it was slow, I still enjoyed it.
7/10

7/10. Moving, sad, and sweet, but a bit overlong and annoying.

7/10. but a bit overlong

I am so happy someone finally agrees with me. I too thought it was a bit long, even though it ran at an hour and twenty seven minutes.

Good, depressing(Thats good in this case) but I really couldn't sympathize that well with Anniston's character. Jen does well though, giving a very credible dramatic performance.
Gyllenhal charmed me in a desperate, deppressing kinda way, and the absurdity of his character was beyond hilarious.
Almost solid as a rock... almost...

SPOILERS

I didn't like this one. The story was predictable, e.g. Aniston's character getting pregnant, Gyllenhaal's suicide. Acting was unimpressive, Aniston really can't do roles like this.

And why would she fall for a whiny, childish prat like Gyllenhaal? Surely she could do better. And it really doesn't help that there's absolutely no chemistry between Aniston and Gyllenhaal.

Every character in this movie is so stupid that it's painful to watch it.
