As far as a director who has created the most amount of movies I have like, that would have to be Steven Spielberg for me.

Although my favorite director out of pure talent would be Mr. Sixth Sense/ Signs, whos name I can't remember and am too lazy to look up.

The dude's name is M. Night Shyamalan.

As for me, David Lean, Francois Truffaut, Akira Kurosawa...

I could go on, but those are enough for now.

Here's my list, along with their best film and their best directing job.

Top Five Directors
1) Alfred Hitchcock (Rear Window / Vertigo)
2) Steven Spielberg (E.T. the Extra- Terrestrial / Schindler's List)
3) Francis Ford Coppola (The Godfather / The Godfather)
4) Sam Mendes (American Beauty / American Beauty)
5) Stanley Kubrick (Eyes Wide Shut / 2001: A Space Odyssey)

Personally, though, I find it much harder making Top Director lists than Top Actor lists, so I'm probably leaving some people out...

The Other
06-27-2003, 07:15 PM
Top 5 Directors (in no real order):

Elia Kazan (On the Waterfront, A Streetcar Named Desire, East of Eden)
Alfred Hitchcock (Notorious, North by Northwest)
Stephen Spielberg (Schindler's List, Jurassic Park)
Stephen Daldry (Billy Elliot, The Hours)
M. Night Shyamalan (The Sixth Sense, Signs)

I don't see how, unless you think T3 is going to be so good that you'll like this director better than Cameron or Spielburg? T3 is going to suck, however neither man was involved with it so you can't respect them any less....

He's a genius, an absolute genius. The Waterboy brought a tear to my eye...

I'm going to be serious though and say Scorsese. Taxi Driver, Goodfellas, Raging Bull, The Last Temptation of Christ, Bringing Out the Dead, Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore, Gangs of New York, After Hours, The King of Comedy, The Last Waltz, The Age of Innocence; all great movies by this great director.

I had to scoot over to ImdB to find this blokey...and to my dismay *gulp* I discovered...Mr Coraci is directing the new Around the world in 80 Days flick with Steve Coogan...not only that, the WRITER'S last flick was only the box office smash, Octopus 2: River of Fear.

Bollocks...I was actually looking forward to seeing Phileas Fogg on the big screen.
