View Full Version : Best Director's Cameo in Another Director's Film

These days many directors make cameos in another director's feature (usually it's a buddy of theirs). I'm not talking about when directors who also act take parts in films (a la Francois Truffaut in "Close Encounters"), just walk-ons that make you blink, then laugh. Here are a few of my faves, let's hear some of yours:

1. John Landis in Tobe Hooper's Spontaneous Combustion (he's the snack-munching radio station techician)
2. John Landis (again) in Sam Raimi's Darkman (as a hospital physician)
3. Stephen Spielberg in John Landis' The Blues Brothers (as a county tax officer)
4. Tobe Hooper in John Carpenter's Body Bags (as a morgue attendant)
5. George Lucas in John Landis' Beverly Hills Cop III (as part of a couple waiting to go on a ride at the amusement park...yes, I was stunned to see him in this, too).

Anyone else?

I dig Spielberg's appearance in both previously mentioned films and also really liked Rob Reiner, James Cameron, and Martin Scorsese's cameos in Albert Brooks's The Muse.

Couldn't agree more - the Hunting Season scene was especially hilarious. :D
