2002 was a decent year. I was surprised to have thrillers end up making my top list. With movie Adaptation, The Hours, and The Pianist, I still found in the end that these 5 movies entertained me more. Most were sleepers too.
1. One Hour Photo (9/10)
2. Equilibrium (9/10)
3. Salton Sea (8/10)
4. Red Dragon (8/10)
5. Solaris (8/10)

You've got a good, solid top five filled with good pictures. Delfonics has a nice selection of terrific flicks, as well.
My top five:
1. Signs
2. My Big Fat Greek Wedding
3. Road to Perdition
4. Bowling for Columbine
5. Interview with the Assassin

5. Dog Soldiers (7.5/10)

The first four films on your list are all fine and watchable movies that I liked, but I didn't care much for About Schmidt (6/10). A fabulous performance by Jack Nicholson, who had to flounder in order to overcome being drowned by the snide, cynical direction of Alexander Payne, whose utter contempt is focused in a batch of grating supporting characters.
My top 5 of 2002:
1. Spirited Away
2. Punch-Drunk Love
3. Bowling For Columbine
4. Talk to Her
5. Frailty

Notch, I loved ADAPTATION (just have a look at my list!). GANGS OF NEW YORK was okay but an extremely underwhelming expericence. PUNCH-DRUNK was a pleasant surprise (I'm not exactly PTA's biggest fan) and is hands down Adam Sandler's best movie up to this day. My opinion about Y TO MAMA TAMBIEN is quite obvious, and the quirky IGBY GOES DOWN almost made it into my top 10 of 2002. Overall a very fine list! :)
Here's mine:
1. Spirited Away
2. Y Tu Mama Tambien
3. Adaptation
4. The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
5. Confessions of a Dangerous Mind

I have yet to see Y Tu Mama Tambien, is it really that good? I can't believe Far From Heaven is only a 7/10. I do understand Kissing Jessica Stein though, most people don't like romantic comedys.

I live in Italy, and unfortunately they dub movies here (they also do it in Spain and in France- I think) because few people speak good english and most people would rather see movies dubbed; that's why I watch very few movies in theatres and usually wait for DVD

Why does everyone love GONY so much? I watched it last night, it was good, but I still think it was superflawed. Still decent I guess.
I'm to picky I guess. DDL gave an awesome performance, as did Dicaprio, but I think Diaz was miscast. Again thats just me. And I didn't like the whole "music video" direction of the opening battle. Felt like I was watching a Nine Inch Nails video set in the 1840s. Oh well. Still pretty good. To each his and/or her own. I'm too damn fickle.
Here is my TOP 10(breaklin out of the 5, I'm just cool like that)
