I live in Dallas, and they make pretty much nothing here. But, one of the few films that were made here...was the superb Bottle Rocket (9/10). (Some of JFK (10/10) was done here too, but only minimal parts)
As for worst... they filmed some of Any Given Sunday here, and I hate that movie (3/10).
And what aboot you?

I'm in Oxford at the mo. They shoot some of the Harry Potter movies here: most of the indoor stuff in our libraries and colleges. There's usually some hardcore fans hanging around near the set all dressed-up :) Best then: The Chamber of Secrets.
Worst: Oxford Blues.

Part of Michael and Kirk Douglas's recent film was filmed at where my grandfather used to live (lived at the time), which is about an hour from me. That's the closest a movie has even been to being filmed in my shitty rural area, although I believe some old western film was filmed in my home town once back in the 40s or something. I'll have to look it up...

October Sky (1999) was supposedly filmed near where I live. Some kids from school were even extras in it. I think I was in 9th or 10th grade when it was filmed, but obviously it wasn't released until like the following school year.

Very few films have been shot in Oklahoma City (I don't know why). Most have them are indies that haven't taken off at all. The only recognizable ones are State Fair w/ Ann-Margaret (haven't seen) and the indie Sam & Janet, which won best screenplay at the NY Int'l Independent Film Fest. There's also some STV flick that oddly enough was filmed in Paris and Oklahoma City, and set in Paris. I haven't seen any of them, but I would guess the best would be Sam & Janet, because it has gotten some great reviews. Alot of people w/ my same agent were involved in it. If I go with the city I was born in, Tulsa, I have more choices, including Phenomenon, The Outsiders, Rumble Fish, Tex, The Frighteners, and UHF. With those choices, I would definetely pick The Outsiders. Just Oklahoma in general adds Around the World in 80 Days, Another Day in Paradise, Doe Boy, Eye of God, Fandango, The Grapes of Wrath, In the Army Now, Rain Man, The Riding of the Laddie, A Simple Wish, Surviving, Twister, and both versions of Where the Red Fern Grows. I would still probably pick The Outsiders.
