"[David] Hayter said that he doubted Gambit would ever have more than a small role [in X-men] because he's too similar to both Cyclops (powers-wise) and Wolverine (personality-wise)."

David Hayter is of course the successful screenwriter for the last 2 X-men flicks. I dunno, but whenever I hear talk like that it just sounds like lack of imagination to me.

Anyway it would really be a disservice to fans if this were actually true, what do you folks think about this?

Ahh, NO Way!! Don't do this to me, Solid Snake!
Fire Cyclops (sorry Cyclop fans) and put in Gambit instead.

i am thinking that i was really hoping to see Gambit in X3. this kind of reeks of taking the lazy option to me...

Since he barely used Cyclops anyway in the second one, I don't see what the problem is including one of my favorite X-Dudes.

And having another "cool attitude" character similar to Wolverine wouldn't hurt one bit. I think it would make the movie better IMO.

I was thinking the same thing about him being Solid Snake. He is more remembered by me for MGS than writing X-Men because a voice role is more noticable than a writing credit. I'd rather have Gambit in the series than Cyclops who doesn't really do much in the films anyway.

I don't really care much. The movie has so many characters anyways, so not adding in another X-Man should help each character shine in the limited amount of screentime given. If anything, write Storm out

True the movie already has a lot of characters.

How are his powers similar to Cyclops? Gambit throwes exploding cards, and cyclops shoots lasers out of his eyes.

Besides every X-men fan would sacrifice himself on an alter to get Gambit in X3.

Actually, he can charge anything he touches. Not just cards. He originally threw metal spikes. But in order to give him that Doc Holliday/dangerous/myseterious/gambler persona, they changed it to playing cards. But I saw him charge a cherry pie before, and it was just as effective. And I saw him throw dirt too. Pretty much whatever he can get his hands on. That makes him pretty versitile. I hope they exploit that in the film. And I think he'll be in the next one, even if it's only a tiny role.

Jean Grey's gonna be dead for at least part of the flick. I guess Wolvie's gonna take his distances from the group because of that. Maybe make him meet Gambit in Louisiana on some stinky affair, and have their two hot head personalities go against each other until they finally pair up and go back to the X-Folks. That'd be fun, that'd be a cool relationship, and we'd have our great Gambit in the flick.

if i am correct...didnt gambit turn on Xmen before in the comics,or simply just go up against them and return to them later?if so,why not try and go with that storyline?

The solution is simple. Give Gambit his own movie ala Punisher.

yeah that might be best...

Jean Grey, will be back in the next as Pheonix as anyone who merely just looks into her history (just play the game) knows. There were obvious hints in the movie too.

Cyclops is gay, i dont know why but he always is, games/comics and movies. Bring on GAMBIT!

Actually, don't be so sure about that. Producer Lauren Schuler-Donner would like Jean Grey to take X3 off and be back as the Dark Phoenix in X4. I don't think it's gonna happen, but I do think Jean Grey will still be dead for about the first 20 minutes of X3, and then come back, but as the bad guy -- which leaves room to introduce Gambit.

I don't see how him being similar to Cyclops is even a problem, they hardly even show Cyclops... and I disagree that their powers are alike, that's crap!

Just be glad at one thing: even if they don't include Gambit in X3, they did film a part for the character in X2, but didn't include it. It was a cameo, but hopefully will be on the DVD

David Hayter? I didn't know he also wrote scripts. Shit, now I got something to tell my friends...but I think Gambit should be in it. If he's too similar to the other characters, why didn't it bother anyone that he was in the comic book series/cartoon. He Has to be in it, he's an important character...

they should defiatly have a feud between Wolverine & Gambit during the movie... like who can be the bad ass of the team... that way the 2 similar personalities collide

A good reason for a head to head between those two would be Rogue. I see some people say that there should be a love triangle involving Iceman, Rogue and Gambit, but to me it would seem better if it was Wolverine going head to head with Gambit trying to protect Rogue from any questionable advances from Gambit. Basically Wolverine re-asserting that patriarcal protection that he had during the first flick.

Sounds less melodramatic then a corny teen love triangle if you ask me.

I dunno, it's all up to how they write it I guess.
