I'm pretty sure I heard about another possible installment in the Hannibal Lecter series not too long ago, a little after Red Dragon came out I think. Possibly a sequel to Hannibal. Does anybody know what's going on with this, or if it's even true?

I heard its gonna be like a prequel to Red Dragon focusing on a young Hannibal Lecter and how he came to be.

Ugh, MGM is really milking the Lecter story a bit too much. He was a self-parody by the mid-90s, so why keep making movies about this guy. I, for one, haven't found him scary since I first saw The Silence of the Lambs...when I was 12.

I think they should stop where they're at right now. When you keep making sequels/prequels to Acedemy Award winning movies (ones who win best picture, now less), it starts to lose its effect after awhile. But, that's the way Hollywood's gonna be...:(

I believe it is entitled The Lecter Variation, and will chronicle the cannibalistic adventures young Hannibal has.

Personally, I love The Silence of the Lambs and, even more so, Red Dragon, but I think the Lecter trilogy is perfect as it is, and ANOTHER prequel will be a BIT much, IMHO.

Yeah, I agree. Hannibal was good for one film, possibly two (though that one sucked), but is anybody truly scared of him anymore?

It just doesn't have the same shock value, nor a purpose.
