An incredible experience delivered by German filmmaker Tom Twyker (Run Lola Run/ Wintersleepers) and arguably his finest work to date.

An epic vision of love, loss and redemption is delivered through picturesque cinematography that reallt took me into another world. Great camera work puts you right where the director wants so the scenes have maximum impact.

The script is poetic and unpredicatble. The whole film is fresh and original, crossing genres with ease to deliver a story that is layered, real and memorable.

All the cast excel in their roles and bring depth to the charecters they are playing. Franke Potenete as usual looks and acts wonderfully.

A touching, sometimes violent ride of a film that puts the viewer through a multitude of emotions and delivers solid entertainment worth repeat viewings.

Fuck yea dude. My friend found it somewhere and I immediately wanted to see it because it was by the guy who did Run Lola Run, also a great movie.

This movie, however, blows that out of the water. This was such a well made movie. I was dumbfounded at how good it was done.

The most memorable thing about the movie was the opening shot. Jesus Christ, it should be frozen and put into a museum because it was one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen on film.

The director and DP really knew how to use color in such a wonderful way.

If anyone comes across this movie, get it.

I'm in total agreement with you guys: this film is amazing. Beautifully shot, some great performances (wow - I didn't realise quite how good Benno Furmann was until seeing this) and a really haunting soundtrack. Fantastic stuff :)

I was going to start a thread about this, but I'm glad someone already did!

I LOVELOVELOVE this film. it's on my favorite 20 films ever on YMDB, and I wish people wouldn't overlook this. Run Lola Run (7/10) was great, but The Princess and the Warrior blew me away (the metaphorical ending...wow!).

It's introspective, quiet, and meaningful, and the tracheotomy might possibly be one of the most unique scenes I have seen in a movie.

This movie rules! And the dvd is actually loaded with features...too bad I have $0 right now, or else I'd buy it, but it's so damn expensive...

10/10

Yeah totally great, bought the DVD from e-bay without seeing the movie about a year and half ago, and have watched it numerous times since....awesome.

This is another great Foreign film, in my opinion, that did not get enough credit as deserved. In many ways, I believe this film surpasses Run Lola Run and Heaven, which I also liked a lot. This film was about no. 18 or so...on my 2001 list. Brilliant film. My third fav. foreign film of 2001. 2001 had a lot of good ones to me, by the way. and.....it's just a great great film....if you like odd movies....and foreign films...definately rent this one!

8/10

Great, beautiful, complex and poetic are the words to describe this film. It's simply amazing. I just viewed it tonight and was blown away by what Twyker and company had created.

Run Lola Run was great for what it was, but Princess and The Warrior is completely on another level. Franka Potente not only looks stunning, but gives a totally convincing, sad and heartfelt performance, the same can be said for Benno Furmann.

Just a great, great film and certainly now one of my favorite foreign films. EVERYONE and their mother should see and experience this movie.
