be carefull wat you download on kazaa. it may not be true because i got it from a unreliable source but since record companies failed to shut down kazaa they will be monitering it and fining people for for piracy.

I only use Kazaa sporadically these days. Pretty much only when I require it to download a track for the Music Tag Thread.

trouble is...you are allowed to have back ups to anything you own. lets say you get tagged for downloading the new Metallica album. Just run out and buy the thing...save yourself the trouble.

and while I too have backed off of Kazaa, im not too paranoid. I know on Kazaa Lite there are 4 and a half million people on at any givin time. Its like speeding. Everyone does it so when you get pulled over, you cant bitch because it was just your unlucky day....problem here is...at what cost?

I kid ;)

Is this "monitor and fine" policy limited to the US? I don't think anyone is going to travel halfway across the world and search through my computer. So I guess I'm safe. Right?

No one is safe!!!

I don't download music anymore so I don't think I'm at risk, mostly just TV shows and foriegn films not released in the US.

Kazaa's horrible anyways. Ugly, slow, poor interface, too many ads.

Even though record companies will try to sue people, I'll still use Kazaa. Here's my reasoning: Terrorism is defined as using violence to get across some kind of point, usually political. The RIAA is using the threat of suing to get a point across. Since suing someone causes financial damage, that makes it financial terrorism. If you change your way of life because of a terrorist attack, the terrorists win. Therefore, if we stop downloading music, they win!! Does anybody really want that?

I mainly use it to find old, rare stuff that I just can't find anymore.

I can't find the album "Convicted" by Cryptic Slaughter anywhere (and I did actually own it at one time, but the tape is now worn completely out) yet, I managed to find most of the song on Kazaa. I listen to a lot of old school punk and once it goes out of print it (and usually only has a limted number of pressings anyways), can be very very hard to find.

Hell, give me an alternative where I can pay $10-12 per month and actually find what I'm looking for and I'll subscribe, but why should I subscribe toa site put together buy the recording industry that probably won't even carry 99% of the shit I'm looking for anyways? Oh, and I'd prefer that $10-12 per month to actually go to THE ARTISTS, not some cunt bastard in a tie who is a slave for some bloated lobbying group......

Does this apply to Kazaa Lite? It probably does but I just want to make sure.

Is it just new music that gets tagged? I just download 80s stuff.

I want to get rid of my Kazaa, since it has gotten slow anyway, even with an upgrade. Is there a good downloading system for music that I could use? One that's actually fast and doesn't have a bunch of pop-ups? One that has pretty much all music and stuff on it? What is the best one to use? Any help would be appreciated...

Kazaa Lite is the way to go for supreme downloads.

The new version of Kazaa Lite supposedly has something to block them from finding out who the users are.

They actually have tracers in the files now to track who has downloaded the song, and it gives their ip address. Just buy cds to music you like then you won't get in touble.

Music CD's are a rip-off. . .up to 20 bucks for maybe 2 or 3 good songs and some filler crap? Ugh.
