From Bloody-Disgusting:

Blade III is officially ready to roll this September with an interesting looking plot. Blade is about to battle a Vampire who out-dates the old as time Dracula! Check out all the details inside...

Film Jerk writes, "The Daywalker returns to the cinema screen yet again and faces an adversary that will be his greatest match yet? a vampire that predates even Dracula. Pre-production for the second sequel in the Blade franchise, Blade III, is now in full swing, with the lead roles of new players now in the hands of casting agents (which we have been able to obtain). According to sources close to the production, the New Line film (bringing back Wesley Snipes in the central role, with Kris Kristofferson also set to star) will begin principal photography September 22 in Vancouver."

"The storyline for the third film finds Blade joining forces with two vampire hunters part of a group called the Nightstalkers as they tackle the powerful and ruthless villain Danica Talos. After harvesting the superior blood of the ancestor of all modern vampires, Talos has resurrected the man now known as Drake (notice the modernization of the Dracula name) from a century-long sleep in the hopes of finally getting world control for all vampires. Blade, along with the band known as the Nightstalkers must stop them from unleash a virus that will kill all the vampires but only are given one chance to make it work."

Yay! Blade III production is finally going to happen! So far the plot sounds interesting. I can't wait to see what the Nightstalkers are like...

Awesome! I like the idea of the Nightstalkers. Whister mentioned in the first film thet there were a few others battling the Vampire menace, and I hope the "two other" Nightstalkers are from the comics! If I remember correctly, one was Frank Drake, a decendant of Dracula, and the other was Hannibal King, a vampire who refused to drink human blood (sound kind of like Blade though, so I doubt they would go with him)

Does anyone remember any of the other vampire hunters from the old "Tomb of Dracula" comics? I can only remember Van Helsing (Daugher/grand-daughter of the original doctor), Quincy Harker (the son of Mina and Jonathan from the novel) and a large East Indian mute named Taj.

I think any of these characters would be great additions to the Blade III movie!

Nightstalkers was a good book, I wish it would have lasted longer. I know that Morbius was rumored to be in Blade II, but it didn't happen. But as good as Blade I and II were, I can't wait to see what happens in III.

I have to say that this is one modern vampire flick that I will be looking foward to I have admit that as far as horror/action flicks go the BLADE films are a great achivement.

Sounds good, but Nightstalkers is a corny name. I didn't like Blade 2 very much, but at least the Bloodpack was a groovy name. I hope the character Drake is really cool like Dracula, and not some young hip punk. I've always wanted a castle scene in the Blade movies, and maye we'll see one here. David Goyer is directing right? Hope he does a good job.

I kind of figured that Blade would take on Drac.I cannot wait to see who they cast as Hannibal King.He was a character in Marvel's Tomb of Dracula. He was a vampire-detective who teamed with Blade to kill Deacon Frost.

This story has some elements from a few Dr.Strange issues, where Blade, king, and Drake help wipe out Drac from the marvel Universe for good.As I remember he was more powerfull and could walk in the sun.

Your right on Nightstalkers,Shatter. It was a good book.It just did not survive the monster comic glut of the early 90's.

This sounds way cool! I didn't particularly like the first (Blade - 6/10) but I did like the second one fairly more (Blade 2 - 7.5/10)! I am actually pretty excited to see this one roll around sometime next year! Not too bad... YAY BLADE III!

And Ashley Scott might get a role in the movie also as a vampire hunter.

I'm really looking forward to Blade 3, and consider the first 2 movies to be the most underrated comic book movies.

For Triple H, that's an interesting choice. But for wrestling watchers, don't be surprised if he keeps the title while filming. He'll probably wear it in every shot of the movie

There doing the same thing as they did in the 1st blade film. How we all thought Whistler kiiled himself then apparently some vampires kidnapped him and so forth. They will probably say something like his daughter survived the bloodshed & whistler only saw the bodies on the floor & didnt bother to examine them.Or it was 1 of her daughters friend that got killed and the body so was so disfigured it was likely to assume it was his daughter.

In response to the queries over Whistler's daughter suddenly turning up alive, well an early script review (WARNING: REVIEW CONTAINS SOME IMPORTANT SPOILERS) of Blade 3 over at http://www.creature-corner.com (look in the reviews section) states that Abigal (Jessica Biel's character) is not Whistler's daughter, but rather his NIECE and therefore not an immediate family member. So when he mentioned his whole family was killed i doubt he was referring to anyone beyond his household (wife, daughter, son and not uncles, nieces, aunties, nephews etc.). The review also mentioned that the team that Hannibal King and Abigal both below to (Nightstalkers?) are scattered around the country and therefore it's also a possibility that Abigal wasn't even in the area when the rest of the family were killed, thus ensuring her survival. It's possible that the script has changed and it now is his daughter, in which case it might be a possibility that he simply thought his daughter was dead and didn't know she was part of the Nightstalker team. Either way i think there's an explanation to her being alive.

Anyway, just thought people might be interested.

"It seems as though Filmrot scored a little more information regarding some casting for Blade III: Trinity. Filmrot write me, "We have just reported on a possible Jessica Simpson casting in BLADE III as well (as Jessica Biel). Total rumor, but it's a possiblity as her manager has announced she has been cast in a Marvel-comic based film slated for a Summer 2003 release (of which BLADE III falls under)."

Sorry if i sound like i'm repeating myself but i just wanted to note that a script review over at filmjerk.com confirmed that Abigal (Jessica Biel) is in fact Whistler's NIECE not his daughter.

Both reviews should be avoided if you don't want to know any spoilers for the film. There is at least one in particular.

I have total faith in this film. After the two original films that were both excellent; Blade (10/10) and Blade II (10+), I can say that this will probably be at the very least good.

Jessica Biel huh?

Hm. I didn't really care for her for seventh heaven. But I wont judge her in horror until I see the TCM remake come out. If she does a bad job in that one, then we can start hoping for a smaller role in the upcoming blade.

Type_A
08-31-2003, 07:18 PM
Don't mean to undermine your opinion, but it seems kinda quick to be judging anyway based on their work on 7th Heaven......Not only is it the most sickly sweet drama to ever be thrown up by Aaron Spelling, but Biel has openly said she dislikes her character so i doubt she was even trying to act on the show. But of course it is your opinion and your definetly entitled to it.

Me, i think she'll do a great job. Could they have found better? Sure, i'd like to have seen Jordana Brewster (The Faculty) play the role myself (yes i'm aware she's brazillian), but Biel is definetly sexy if nothing else........

The cast member in danger of sucking the life out of the film (pun, intended) is Ryan Reynolds as Hannibal King. He's supposed to be some bad ass vampire killer, and yet all Reynolds has done so far is a role in a mediocre gross out flick and a role on a mediocre ABC sitcom. Even Ashton Kutcher (rumoured to be excellent in the upcoming Butterfly Effect) would have made a better fit. I get the feeling they are hoping for spin-off franchise with Hannibal so Reynolds better be good............

ERIN_LoJ
08-31-2003, 08:24 PM
You may be right on her portrayal on Seventh Heaven Type, but I thought everyone else was convincing in their roles on the show. I used to watch it awhile back but since then have fallen out of.
The trailers of TCM did have her looking competent in acting, though, so she may just blow me away, who knows. A good thing is she has a few years of experience behind her belt already.

I can't picture Ryan Reynolds and who he is, so I won't be commenting on him yet :p

Miss Belladonna
08-31-2003, 09:48 PM
I think Ryan Reynolds is a rather interesting choice...It will be interesting to see how he pulls it off.

As for Biel, well Im with ERIN_LoJ... I will save my complaining till after I see TCM. ;)...and if she is great I will probably jump the fence and join the pro Biel team.

Good News? It appears Blade III might not be the marvel film that Pop Bimbo Jessica Simpson is going to appear in

Bad News? She might be Sue Storm (Invisible Girl) in Fantastic Four. But i'll save the ranting for the right thread.

Back on topic, i'm not suggesting that Jessica Biel is in anyway a great actress, but i don't think that she is likely to drag the film down....not like say Jessica Simpson =) But apparently Abigal isn't really a big role in the film, so either way i don't think it will matter how good Biel is.

I still really think Ryan Reynolds is going to be the cast member who really divides the audience. He's actually a pretty good comedic actor, but i just don't see it translating well to this kind of movie. Still at least they didn't cast The Rock...........

Blade's chest piece looks kind of crappy. I want this to be better than Blade 2, and maybe Goyer will be able to pull it off. Lately, most of the movies that I've seen, that were filmed in Vancouver have turned out to be shitty. Let's hope that Blade 3 doesn't fall into that category!

From all the pics I've seen and such, this movie looks kick-ass. I've got a lot of confidence in Dave Goyer so if he fucks this up, I'll be pretty let down...up chances are, I won't. Blade was awesome, Blade II was awesome and Blade III will be awesome as well. But it's time to stop after this one, methinks simply because the 3rd one seems to be directed more at a teenage audience with the addition of Jessica Biel and Ryan Reynolds. But I don't know, I haven't seen anything on it so I can't judge, yet.

Heres a major update from the director himself! Check it out:

- At least 400-450 effects shots in total are being done.

- Whilst some stunts have been augmented by CG, there are no totally CG stunts like there were in the second film.

- Wire-fu won't be too evident, Goyer is opting for more practical fighting and FX.

- They're already a month ahead of schedule effects wise

- The first cut of the film was 2.5 hours. It now runs just over two.

- This film is the one most set in the real world, so Blade has the FBI & cops after him. He's also talked about in the tabloids.

- A deal has been made with all the actors playing the 'Nightstalker' vampire hunting characters to do a spin-off film.

- The 70,000 Dracula character named 'Drake' is in fact the origin of much of ancient myth such as the Sumerian god Dagon. He also calls what Bram Stoker wrote 'bad PR'.

- Dominic Purcell plays the shapeshifting Drake whose bones can be seen moving about under his skin whenever he shifts shape.

- James Remar shot his role as an FBI agent for eight days.

- The final sequence has Blade & co. tearing apart around 100 vampires or so, Goyer is aiming to triple the amount of carnage seen in the end set pieces of the first two films.

- Natasha Lyonne plays a biochemist developing a bioweapon to wipe out the vamps - and she need's Drake's blood to do it.

- An expanded version of a cut scene from the first film will appear here, vamps have put humans in comatose states and are bleeding them. Sort of a disturbing take on the way battery hens produce eggs.

- The opening will be a big car/bike/shootout chase scene.

- Goyer has reintroduced both scares and dark humour that were missing from the second film.

Finally two new shots of Van Wilder himself Ryan Reynolds have appeared, the usually thin boy having stacked on around 24 pounds of muscle for the role of 'Hannibal King':

Blade II had dark humor, and the original wasn't the least bit "scary." Blade rocks, but I'm setting my expectations low for the third installment. I hate Ryan Reynolds, I hate Triple H, and I hate the title. I don't want a vampire opus to remind me of the goddamn Matrix trilogy.

So according to that information their wont be any "bullet time" type of crap on this one. Thats gotten real old...but obviously filmakers like Uwe Boll dont think so.

highlight to read

Muscle & Fitness: Tell me more about your character Jarko Grimwood.

Hunter: I play the heavy of a group of vampires that's trying to ensure we become the dominant species on the planet. We're out to capture and kill Blade. You find out later in the film that I'm like Blade in that I'm half-human. That's why I have steel fangs instead of real ones and powers similar to his. Every time you think Blade and his crew have made their escape, I come out of nowhere.

Muscle & Fitness: Any memorable scenes you've shot thus far?

Hunter: In one scene shot here in Vancouver, we set Blade up so the police capture him, and we go to the police department dressed as orderlies to try to pick him up. The other heroes in the film come to his rescue. A riot breaks out at the police department, and we have a massive gun battle. They end up escaping with Blade. As they're driving down the highway, I chase them, and Jessica Biel, who plays one of the heroes, shoots me in the eye with an arrow.

A Fangoria Feature talking about Hellboy SPFX also mentioned a creature that would be in TRINITY.

Another creature sketch on the wall, which Fango actually gets a peek at the headpiece for, is a werehyena-looking beastie with a wild mohawk of hair and huge fangs. “David wanted to have a werewolf-type character in the film, but he didn’t want it to look like the typical pointy-eared creature, so we suggested, ‘Why don’t we have him look a little like a hyena?’ ” Elizalde recalls. “David was like, ‘Yeah, that’s great! That’s a good idea. Run with it.’ So Carlos did that drawing for us, and Norman Cabrera did the sculpture—the body suit, head, hands, etc. that Brian Steele, again, wore. So it was a very nice transition from HELLBOY to TRINITY.”

Sounds like a badass monster! And it's a guy in a suit.

View the trailer at the official site (http://www.bladetrinity.com/). This looks to be a step down from Blade II. It's distressingly generic. Biel is gorgeous, and Reynolds might not be as annoying as I thought he would be, but the whole shebang seems prosaic and uninspired.

I can't wait for this. This is one of the movies I've been waiting a long time for (along with Kill Bill Vol. 2 & Spider-Man 2). But what's the deal with releasing it in December, up against Ocean's 12? This is a movie fit for the late summer crowd, who have seen all the big July films and need something new. They could even have it come out for Halloween to kick out those slasher films or the remakes of good Asian horror films. New Line, whatcha doing?!! You guys are killing me. Did the writers all of a sudden start channeling Resident-Evil game characters?

Hope , shaken. Confidence, lost.

I think it looks good. I really enjoyed the first 2 movies so this is high on my "must see" list.

Here's (http://www.maximonline.com/entertainment/features/blade_trinity/) a cool clip of Jessica Biel fighting off some young vampires in a subway.

Agreed.

Blade, fantastic.

Blade II, amazingly...even better.

Blade III shaping up to be gargatuan.

::rubs hands together:: I cannot cannot cannot wait. I hope it has even more gore than II. And bring on the fight scenes! I loved the Blood Pack so I love this new group. One of my favorite scenes of any movie is the shot in Blade II of the Blood Pack and Blade walking into the House Of Pain. Ugh, so awesome.

WOW. And I'm sure a tiny bit of it was edited out for being too gory. Do you think? They didn't show the blade actually entering the guy, they usually do in Blade films.

There seems to be a really positive review up at Bloody-Disgusting (http://www.bloody-disgusting.com/reviews.php?id=397).
Problem is, most of the things the reviewer likes about this movie, I didn`t like about the previous movies, especially the soundtrack, but I guess I saw that coming before the review.

It's positive, but the guy hated Blade II, which I fucking adored. This isn't looking so good. I've never been enthused about this project, and the generic trailer cemented my disinterest.

Yeah, all of the video clips of it I`ve seen so far have me quite certain it`ll be the worst Blade entry so far. I really enjoyed the darkness of the first two and when they stated this one will be more on the comedy side, I started to worry and the video clips haven`t proven my ifirst feelings wrong so far.

The comedy part, yeah, I guess...but both Blade I and Blade II had that hint of comedy...which was a good thing and added to how good the film was. But here it kind of looks like an overload, and we've only seen the trailer and this fight scene, at least that's what I've seen.

Maybe this was already covered. But are there any rumours about the music that is going to be featuredin the film? Loved the cuts in the first one.
