From Coming Soon.net

John Whitesell (Malibu's Most Wanted, See Spot Run) is in talks to direct Warner Bros. Pictures/Village Roadshow Pictures' live-action/CGI feature Cats & Dogs 2: Tinkles' Revenge.

The project, a sequel to the original 2001 film, is expected to be in theaters by summer 2005. It was written by the film's original writers, John Requa and Glenn Ficarra.

Tab Murphy is revising the script, which will continue the wars between canines and felines.

If done well, this movie will be a great follow up to the original.

If done badly, this sequel will suck.

If it goes straight to video...don't even get me started.

I thought the first looked terrible. But then I eventually saw it a while after it had been on video, and it was actually a nice little surprise. It was a cute flick! I gave it a 7/10 (B-).

If they make a sequel, I'll check it out. Still, it probably won't be until video though. But this time, I won't wait so long after it hits video before I rent it.

Well the ONLY thing I like about the first Cats & Dogs was the animals communicating w/ each other. When the movie moved over to the humans the pacing of the story just suddenly went flatline. Hopefully the second installment will jazz up the human end or get new characters or whatever I would'nt mind seeing what the canines & felines go at it once more.

I was quite shocked that i enjoyed the first one, it was a bit of a kick in the nuts when i came out smiling. so a sequel might, and i stress might, not be a a bad idea ;)

Ehh. First one was fairly mediocre, but it did have some cute moments.

This is from Dark Horizons:

Cats and Dogs 2:

Tobey Maguire is a lock for "Cats and Dogs 2". I believe he and Alec Baldwin have agreed to do the voices again. There's talk of a third "Cats and Dogs" film happening less than a year after this one [probably before Tobey gets even bigger]".
