Im not sure if I should be happy or sad that Tobe Hoopers gonna direct these two zombie flicks. He has been doing some preatty lame flicks lately like... Crocodile????
Anyhows, I just wished he went back to his good days like when he made films like the Salems Lot, Lifeforce, Poltergeist, Texas Chainsaw Massacre I and II, Invaders from Mars and even The Mangler, all good films in my book.
But lately his been doing these lackluster straight to video crap fests.
Any one got new info on these two new films hes set to direct?
Return of the Living Dead IV: Rave from the Grave - about a bunch of college kids being eaten up by zombies in the middle of a Rave Party..supposed to start filming in the summer of 2003, I think its allready started filming.
Return of the Living Dead V: Batallion - dont know what this ones about yet but its slated to begin filming back to back with part IV. Supposed to be released in 2004.

I heard Batallion is about the military. Let's hope this isn't a cheesy Dog Soldiers rip-off. Interesting facts: Tobe Hooper was originally set to direct the oringinal ROTLD and the name of the original movie in Japan is Batallion.

So maybe by directing these two flicks hes realizing a life long desire to direct a Return of the living dead picture! So maybe that will be a good thing for this project. Maybe hell do something decent.

It doesn't look like Hooper will be getting around to these sequels for awhile. He has a slew of projects on his plate, including a remake of The Toolbox Murders. I'm not sure what he'll tackle first.

I thought crocodile was a decent straight to video romp. I got at least some enjoyment out of it, it lagged near the end though. I own lifeforce and enjoy it a lot also. I hope Tobe makes these movies great, when his movies are good, they're good, but when they're bad, they're bad.

Yeah his actually filming that right now. Toolbox murders appears in IMDB and it says that its filming. Hope they are right.
What I think is that hell start on these two as soon as hes finished with the Toolbox Murders remake, supposedly its their to start on the first sequel this summer (2003).

Well, whenever these babies do come out, I'll watch em. I always love a good zombie movie.

If they are made, ill see them, i havent yet given up on Hooper, although I really hate Crocodile, i dont think hes been getting large enough budgents to make an excellent film recently, so his films have suffered from bad acting, poor scripts and shitty CGI
as long as their funny like the original they should be worth a look

I only really liked the original ROTLD. The sequels really don't do anything for me but I guess I'll give parts 4 and 5 a shot. Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

If Tobe Hooper makes em, I hope he keeps in mind what a cool soundtrack the first one has, you know with all that punk and metal on it. He should add some of that cool punkish feel to his soundtrack for these films, it would certainly be very appreciated.

Check this out I found out what Return of the Living Dead part V Batallion is gonna be like:
Return Of The Living Dead 4 & 5
Tobe Hooper will direct the fourth and fifth Return of the Living Dead installments back-to-back this summer. The scripts for both films are written by William Butler and Aaron Strongoni. The subtitle for the fourth tale will be Rave From The Grave and will have a collegiate setting, "sort of like Animal House with zombies." The fifth's subtitle will be Batallion, and the film is described as "Band of Brothers with zombies." Johnny Vulich, who did the zombie effects for Night of the Living Dead '90 (which Butler co-starred in), will be doing the zombie effects for the ROTLD sequels.
The zombies on Night of the living dead 90 were decent looking, so at least we know the zombies should end up looking good."
A war movie with zombies. This has been a premise that hasnt been done to death yet, could prove to be interesting dont you think?

It really isn`t THAT bad. Honestly. It`s cheesy and predictable, but I think Hooper intended it that way. I think "Crocodile" gets a really bad rap that it doesn`t deserve.
One things for sure - the first kill scene is AWESOME!

AS a DTV cheese-fest,Crocodile was not half bad as some of the dreck one could find on the Sci-Fi channel.Spiders 2 or Shark attack anyone?
But Its a shame to see Tobe going this low to make 2 sequels back to back.I mean this is the man who gave us TCM 1&2,Poltergiest,and the Funhouse!
He is really slummin right now,but at least he is working.

I hope they do abandon the punk thing, it is so old. Let's face it kids, hardcore is dead (except for shitty NY bands). I hope they run with the raver/electronica thing in #4, I'm really looking forward to these.

Your right Count, he is making the Remake to Toolbox murders, and from what I hear about it its gonna be the movie to bring him back from straight to video hell.
Also theres some reports that say that its not really a remake that its more of a ghost story in an apartment complex in hollywood, but thats all they are saying, cause the project is really tight, they dont want anyone to know anything about it yet.
Hope this is true, id love to see another quality Tobe Hooper film soon!
