Pedro Almodóvar, the Spanish writer and director with a very unique and quirky style, although some of his later work downplayed the madcap/screwball comedy of his earlier films. Among my favorites of his are Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down! and Kika.
(For those who are already fans of Almodóvar, I'd recommend seeing Km. 0 (http://us.imdb.com/Title?0251777) by Yolanda García Serrano and Juan Luis Iborra, if you can. It has the same comedic touch, with some parts almost as melancholic, as Almodóvar's.)
I was nearly throwing up while watching All About My Mother, but I'm interested to see some of his other films. Any recommendations?

I'm pretty familiar with Pedro, having seen much of his work.
The ones I liked:
Law of Desire
Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown
Kika
Live Flesh
All About My Mother
The ones I liked less:
Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down!
High Heels
The Flower of My Secret
I'd start with Women on the Verge. A baby-faced Antonio Banderas appears, the plot careens from terrorists to spiked gazpacho, and it's a hoot from beginning to end. (Make sure to see it widescreen.) Kika is also fabulous, if you're open to the idea that a rape can be played for laughs. Live Flesh (which also demands letterboxing) is very dramatic (and sexy), so if you didn't care for All About My Mother, you might want to pass on it.

Don't like him much, at least from what i've seen:
Women etc 5/10
Kika 4/10
High Heels 6/10
So those films haven't made me interest in the rest of his work. Sorry, maybe i'm losing a genious...

Here here! The man's a genius if you ask me. TALK TO HER, HIGH HEELS and ALL ABOUT MY MOTHER are my personal favorites...
