I know that this movie isn't completely horror but it did have horrific imagery I'm sure we would all agree.

I thought the film was pretty good. Not a great film, but a good watch and a fun time at the movies. It was a little long and tended to drag at certain points, but I think that the development of the story depended on the less action packed portions of the movie and would have been a lesser film without it. What really shocked me was that the movie had a story, or at least an interesting one. The plot was very good and so were the characters. The story made me care about the characters and root for them, which is a rarity in movies like this. I thought the graphics were brilliant, my props to ILM. For those of you who know the ride at Disneyland, you probably recognized a few scenes, especially that of the pirate city. Most of the similar scenes exist in this portion of the film and a homage is paid to the ride when the characters exhibit many of the robotic mannerisms held therein. Overall this was a good film full action, dry humor and excellent acting lead by Johnny Depp who puts in a downright brilliant performance.

I'll be checking it out this weekend - I know, it's a Disney flick, but, fuck it, I like most of Johnny Depp's movies and it looks like a good popcorn flick.

Just got back from it and I have to say that I loved it. It was a fun flick that made me laugh. Great action scenes and sword fights. The special effects were great, Love the ship. Johnny Depp was awsome as always.

I just saw it this afternoon and thought it was pretty damn good! I was skeptical since it was Disney, but I was satisfied by the acting and loads of violence. Many scenes were VERY much inspired by Army of Darkness.

I'm hoping to see this sometime next week. Johnny Depp is definately one of the greatest actors of my generation (among others)! He's my influence to see it.

Great movie. Well not "great, but good. I enjoyed it, and it seems like it has great re-watch value. I'm sorry, but I thought Johnney Depp was fairly annoying in the movie, but he did have some good lines. Kiera, Kiera, Kiera, your mighty fine! Espicaly in this movie, but damn, you need some acting classes... NOW!

Just saw it on Wednesday and I didn't care for it very much. The performances were pretty decent, that Knightley girl was hot, and the costumes were cool, but that's about it. The story was average, and the action was very underwhelming. The cinematography was ok, but not great, and the CGI pirates looked pretty bad(most of the time). What I hated most about this movie was that it lacked a great deal of atmosphere, and I didn't really feel like I was a part of the adventure. Nothing captivated me. Not a terrible movie, but definately not what I imagined it to be.

As much as I hate to admit going to a Disney movie, I did. And as much as I hate to admit I really liked a Disney movie, I do. I don't know... this flick won't win any Oscars, but I still though it was one of the more entertaining movies I've seen in awhile. Johnny Depp is still the man! My only qualm is that it seemed like it lasted a little too long - not that it was boring or really lagged, but I think it was close to 2 1/2 hrs and it's tough for ANYTHING to hold my attention for that long. Check it out Schmoes. You've definitely seen worse!

Pirates was this summer's "The Mummy."

From the CGI undead, to the general irreverent & silly humor, Pirates of the Carribean reminded me of Stephen Summers's "The Mummy." Expect a rollercoaster & a good time, but don't expect Oscar-worthy anything or real scares.
