I was waiting for someone to do a topic on this great(yet confusing)video. I'm sure a lot of you have seen this. What are your thoughts?

Great video. The song is becoming overplayed (and yet I refuse to not listen to it) but that's the mark of a great tune. I'll tell ya this much, when this song kicks in when I see them at the weekend, I'll punch the fucking air like a good 'un. I anticipate this being the tune of the whole festival, baby!

Yeah, it's a pretty fucking awesome song to hear live, White Stripes kick enormous amounts of ass, and they're even better to see in person. As for the video, I dig it, alot, though I get dizzy while watching it sometimes... hmmmm, that's definitely the mark of a great video!

Is it ok for me to jump on the White Stripes bandwagon a little late? My wife recently burned the cd for me and I have been listening to it in my car the last couple of days. And I have to say that it is a damn fine rock album.
They were just in town here (Chicago) so I am sorry I missed them.

I don't get the video's appeal. Or the appeal of The White Stripes in general. The video bored me, as well as the music.

The video and the song kick large amounts of ass, the stripes can do no wrong in my eyes...ROCK ON!

The VID kicks too much arse. Very A Clockwork Orange...and downright fucking hypnotic.
I miss my ol' avatar...:(
I just saw the video on MTV last night. Great clip. The song rocks enough as it is, but the video just adds that edge that makes it undeniably cool. If there is one minor complaint I have, it's that the video really reveals how little Meg White actually does in the band.

She's the backbone of the band...without her percussive talents it would just be Jack White and his guitar. She's invaluable.

Couldnt agree more. I really dont see anything remotly talented about the band. But Im all in favor of others diggin it. I dont like Dead and they sure had a nice career.
and I have to agree about the drummer...after seeing them live on MTV a while back I was almost laughing at how little the drummer was doing...well I was also laughing in general as to how bad the song was....:)
No harm intended to any fans!
just my 2 cents.

Jack writes all the songs, plays the main instrument, and sings. Her drumming is nothing revolutionary, I have friends who can play better than her. I'm not saying that she doesn't deserve to be in the band, because their chemistry obviously propels Jack to new heights, and there is something charming about the drumming on the tracks. All I'm saying is, if Jack took 2 years of drum lessons, he could do it all by himself in the studio.

That would defeat the object.
Meg's "style" is naive...primitive almost. She isn't bound by technique and her drumming is both inspired and instantly recognisable.
Polish their sound and you lose a shitload of unique charm.
My point remains that if you break down the main componenents of the band like this:
-Percussion
-Guitar
-Songwriting
-Singing
Jack has a 3-1 edge in the proceedings. I don't want Meg to change her style or quit the band, I'm just saying that she's obviously and eternally second fiddle in the band.
