oh what a lucky boy i am sometimes, the lovely missus calf came home today from work with a pair of shiny vip passes to tomorrows move festival, i had given up hope of getting any tickets for it but some kind soul staying at the hotel she works at gave her a couple for her services, what they were i don't know and quite frankly dont care,i shall be happily bouncing along to the merry tunes of the charlatans, the inspiral carpets, feeder, david gahan without a care in the world.
and if thats not enough a good friend of mine who has a friend who works for sjm the promoters has also blagged me a pair of tickets for sunday featuring,REM,john squire, badly drawn boy,and idlewild oh its going to be a busy busy weekend.

I presume your good lady's services were appreciated then.;)
Im sure you will have a spiffing time, and of course my services as a babysitter are always at hand, just dont leave them to fend for themselves whilst you party.:D

a jammy bastard i definatly am what a day,sat in the vip area rubbing shoulders with some real hero's of mine gary mountfeild(mani) was a few seats along i wanted to go up and say something but my arse fell out anytime i got near, tony wilson was in there and after his performance with the inspiral carpets clint boon was next to me at the bar, these names dont mean much to the people in here but to anyone in the manchester area they always will.
anyway the inportant thing was the music it started off with a nostalgic performance by the inspiral carpets sounding as good as they did 10 yrs ago but looking a hell of a lot older, they belted out all the old classics,"she comes in the fall","this is how it feels",and "dragging me down",they finished off the set with a new one released on monday called come back tommorow that sounded great live so any old fans of the band might want to check it out.
second up was david gaham lead singer of depeche mode but doing a solo tour.
it was not really my cup of tea but the guy gave one hell of a performance, dancing like a madman and swinging the mike around like tiger woods would a club.
like i said not my cup of tea but i still appreciated the performance he gave, because he put everything into it and really played up to the crowd.
thirdly feeder i had a chance to see these boys a few months ago when they played with the white stripes but did'nt fancy it,boy what a mistake they were superb,i did not think i knew anything by them but found myself knowing most of their set,i must have heard all the songs on mtv and radio and just never taking in who was singing them but they were great.
songs like ,"high","just the way i'm feeling","buck rodgers",are going straight on my shopping list they really were a joy to watch and listen too and i see them possibly being the next big thing in the uk.
lastly the band who i went to see with high hopes the charlatans they are probably the last surviving band from the madchester period although they never really came near the stone roses and happy monday in terms of popularity and following they have always kept going and making good records in a quiet fashion that has always kept them out of any limelight and free from any fad's,and i think that shows in the way they aproach their music it has a style all of its own,and tim is a great frontman he looked like a freaky roy orbison tonight but the man has a great voice and real stage presance, anyone at t in the park tomorrow night is in for a treat if they are anything like what they were tonight they played all the old favourates,"north country boy",one to another",weirdo",and a superb 10 minute vertion of "the only one i know"so they were defianatly worth coming to see,all in all a cracking day.
