i personally don't want a remake...but if done right it would kick ass but STILL i don't want one the film is good as it is....even though i was disappointed when i first saw it and the second time but by the third i was starting to like it.....great flick....
it really grew on me....
ANYHOO....it's just i was on IMDb and i saw on the msg board for Deliverance they were sayin WHAT IF there was gonna be a remake who would you cast in the roles of the four stars of the flick...
it was pretty fun seeing who they came up with so i thought i'd start a thread to see who you guys and gals would come up with

There already is a remake of Deliverance... it's called Wrong Turn. Take out Burt Reynolds, replace him with Eliza Dushku- BAM!
Deliverance: The Next Generation.
Well... maybe not....

I'm not surprised hearing this. They're remaking everything lately. As long as it steers clear of Halloween and Nightmare On Elm Street I wont be driven to murder. Not that Im not pissed about the remaking of all these movies! Stop remaking the GREAT stuff, and start remaking the SHIT movies! Ones that NEED improvement! STOP FUCKIN WIT OUR FAVORITES! WRITE UR OWN GODDAMN STUFF!

I could picture George Clooney in the Burt Reynolds role. I'm drawing a blank on the others, particularly Ned Beatty's wonderful squeal like a pig role. Alec Baldwin maybe, since he's gotten kind of porky and looks like he could squeal pretty good.

whats with al lthese remakes? one or two is cool, but crap. I mean deliverance wasnt a great big deal then, its certainly not now. I mean ss rape just isnt in style now eh? This movie isnt even that old, pick somethng really old. Something actaully good.

Stumbled across this post while looking into whether there was a plan to remake Deliverance - really, is there anything that hasn't been remade yet?

Gold. I never heard anything about anyone close to either project getting murdered... NOES is still in production, however... :o

Well, we can only hope that HalloweenShape31 is hard at work on murdering any and everybody involved with the Nightmare remake.

Well if they make it more like the book I'm all for it.

I am wondering which actors would be brave enough to re-enact the infamous 'Squeal like a pig' sequence.

In this day and age that scene would probably be even more graphic, just to shock audiences.

Meh. What's the point? It's not really a movie that you want to rewatch over and over again, so I don't really know if I'd go and see a remake.

I actually read a script about a year ago (on Zoetrope I believe) that someone wrote as a sequel to the original with the original cast. It was rather well done. While I can't disclose any details, I will say that if it were to be picked up by a studio and done correctly, it may just work.

I love Deliverance so I wouldnt to see them remake but if they did here would be my cast:
Leonardo DiCaprio or Casey Affleck in for Jon Vioght
Phillip Seymour Hoffman in for Ned Beatty
Joaquin Phoenix (cuz Im still convinced the whole rapper thing is a joke) or Sam Rockwell in for Ronny Cox
Matt Damon or Mark Wahlberg in for Burt Reynolds

Definitely Marky Mark for the role of Burt Reynolds character!

I could also see Ethan Hawke as Ronny Cox's character
