Any other huge KISS fans out there? I've liked them ever since I was a little kid, my neighbor down the street got me hooked on them. I've seen them live three times (kick ass shows!), nobody and I mean nobody, does a live show like KISS. I wish I would have been able to see them in their heyday back in the 1970's though.
I've got most all the cd's, except for a few things from the downtime of the '80s. I've even got three of the albums that my brother gave to me (Alive, Destroyer, Dynasty). It's an impossible question, but I would have to say Revenge is my favorite album of all time. They needed an effort like that after several lackluster tries at it.
What's your favorite KISS album? Any good concert stories to tell? Am I talking to myself here?:p Hey for you younger schmoes, if you liked the movie "Detroit Rock City", go rent "KISS Meets The Phantom" if you can find it. It's SO bad.:D
PS: Any old time members of the KISS ARMY, still out there.:D

They were the first HUGE band I liked in the early seventies. KISS were everywhere. And I was a fan, but just sort of outgrew them, I guess.
I have met Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons and Peter Criss. They were all very nice guys.

Yeah, my brother was in the same boat as you Greb. He was pretty big fan back in the day, I don't think he listens any more at all.
I think they probably lost a lot of casual fans back in the early eighties about the time they ditched the makeup. It's not as though THAT had any thing to do with it, it was just about that time. In my mind they should have done it a few years earlier when they lost the first original member, Peter Criss. Instead they trudged on and created a new makeup job for Eric Carr, and later Vinnie Vincent. That gimmick had pretty much run it's course.
They just came out with a bunch of mediocre albums such as "Unmasked", "The Elder", "Crazy Knights" and so forth. They just kind of lost focus and got a little too poppy. Like I said they came back in a big way in 1992 with "Revenge".
Here I am talking to myself again. It's o.k, it's pretty much par for the course. I'm used to it.:D
ECHO.... ECHO.... ECHO :D

Did anyone else notice how much scarier they were without the make-up?
In all seriousness, I am a bigger fan of bands with heavy KISS influences then KISS themselves. I just can't get into there music but I'd see them live given the chance.

I love these guys, I was born in 1975, so I was just a kid when they hit it big, so I guess I sort of missed that.
But I discovered them in 1996 when I saw them play rock and roll all night on the 1996 MTV video music awards, man that show made me see what a real rock and roll show should be like! Fire works lighting up the skies and everyone was so pumped! confetti and mayhem while busting up their guitars on stage! The coolest thing I ever saw. But I didnt buy any of their stuff cause I was afraid it might be satanic and all, and Im not into that...
Anyhows so in comes 1998 and the release of Psycho Circus, I gave it a listen at a record store and as soon as I heard the first words and guitar of the song Psycho Circus, I knew I would love these guys. I then bought my first kiss album in 1998 with Psycho Circus. The rest is history, Ive gotten most of their albums...I still dont have The Elder and a few others. but Im a fan, I love their total devotion to Rock and roll...and money. :D
Did you guys get to hear "Rock and Roll radio" on the Ramones tribute album? Its really a good song! I believe one of the best of that record, in fact, Kiss managed to take a Ramones song and give it that special kiss flavor that only Gene, Paul and Ace could pull off. Great stuff.

SWEET! I knew there had to be one fan out there. There not satanic, that was just an acronym made up by some Fundamentalist preacher that didn't like Gene Simmons because he's Jewish.
Don't bother with The Elder, it sucks!

This is cool, I really didn't expect to get much of a response with this, but it looks like there are a few fans around. It's impossible for me to narrow down ten songs, so I'll do top five albums.
#5) Ace's solo album
#4) Psycho Circus
#3) Alive
#2) Destroyer
#1) Revenge
Any of you fans that want to see a good video featuring KISS, try to get your hands on "KISS Extreme Close Up", it's excellent. It was made about the time Revenge came out, so it's about ten years old now, but it's really insightful. It has interviews with the band members (Ace and Peter weren't with the group at that time), old concert footage, MTV videos, and much more.
I just busted it out yesterday and watched part of it again. I'll bet that KISS Army jacket is worth some bucks, that would be sweet to have.

Damn, thanks for telling me! It had been so long, I figured they probably just scrapped the idea. I'll be picking up a copy for sure.

Hey Spacemonkey, I picked up a copy of Alive 4 today! I'm listening to it as we speak, I haven't been disappointed so far. I haven't got to the part where the symphony joins in the concert, but I'm sure it will be good.
There are some new songs on here I've never heard before live. Psycho Circus, Goin' Blind, Sure Know Something, Shandi, and Great Expectations. Mostly slow songs they'll play with the orchestra.
Why wasn't Ace on this tour? I can tell it's not his trademark solos.
Pick it up, you wont be disappointed.

I'm a huge fan and I tell ya, the thing I find interesting is that last time I saw them live (not too long ago here in vegas) it was interesting to see grandparents bringing their grandchildren..truly a multi-generational band...that doesn't happen much these days. I'm looking forward to the KISS/Aerosmith tour and taking my 8 year old son to rock out (earplugs in of course so he's not hit with tenitis like I was at a young age).
My favorite songs:
1. Unholy
2. Psycho Circus
3. Charisma
4. Domino
5. Strutter
6. Detroit Rock City
7. Heaven's On Fire
8. Burn Bitch Burn
9. Tears Are Falling
10. I Was Made For Loving You (shhh, don't tell anyone I liked their "disco" song ;-))))

Not counting their greatest hits album, I'd say Destroyer is their best work.
I remember back in the 70s when they managed to top the best and worst band list, now that somethin'.
Anybody catch them during the Salt Lake City's Winter Olympic closing ceremonies?

I think I'm headed to Chicago the weekend of September 5th to catch KISS/Aerosmith. I'm PUMPED to say the least! I've seen both these bands before, but not together. They both put on the most kick ass outrageous stage shows you are ever going to see.
I wish they were coming closer than Chicago, but who cares! It's worth the drive and it should be an awesome weekend with friends. They'll probably announce a surprise Ames concert after we already buy tickets for Chicago.:D The Stones did it to us in '94, we drove all the way to Madison Wisconsin and then a few months later they played Jack Trice Field in Ames, hehehehe. Oh well both trips were a blast.

Yea Ill most certainly pick it up, glad to hear you enjoyed it!
How did the aerosmith/kiss concert go? How many songs did kiss play? how did the two bands jam at one point? Speak dude!
Also heres the kicker! They actually filmed this symphony concert (I mustve missed it) and it will be out on DVD soon so be on the look out for that. I head theres this part where they have this chorus of little kids singing and they are all in kiss make up! How cool those that sound? Im gonna get it no doubt.

OK, buckle in KISS fans, 'cause I've waited a long time for a thread like this!
I first heard KISS in the summer of '76 when Destroyer came out (I was six BTW, which still makes me an old fart in the eyes of many of you! ;) ) and they blew me away. I then forgot all about them until 1984 when I went to my first rock club (underage I might add! ;D ) and heard Uh! Al Night.
I then bought Asylum and Animalize and proceded to pick up most of their back catalogue, wishing that I could have seen them in their glory days.
I actually did see them at the Donington Monsters Of Rock festival festival here in the UK in 1987 when Crazy Nights was out but it just wasn't the real KISS! :)
I continued to follow them throughout the 90s and was absolutely orgasmic when they reformed the original line-up with make-up!
I went to Doningtin again in 1996 when they came over to do their first show with make-up and original line-up for close on 20 years! It was absolutely amazing!
I saw them twice more in 1996 when they toured again later that year, but sadly haven't seen them since. I'm hoping that they'll come over just once more before they finally call it a day (even if it's sharing the stage with Aerosmith as looks likely as I write this today).
To conclude - KISS are just amazing and have remained one of my fave bands over the years! :D

I'm saying The Elder is the best thing they've done. I do like alot of their other stuff though. Songs like "Lick It Up" completely blow, but then you have songs like "Love Gun" that are awesome. They're a band I haven't listened to a whole lot, but I do enjoy about 80% of the stuff I've heard from them. I even like their last album, Psycho Circus.
