THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT's story (the 3 students) is entirely fake. However, the Blair Witch (named Elly Kedward), Rustin Parr, Eileen Treacle, The lost girl (Robin Weaver), the massacre of Coffin Rock, and such are all TRUE. It all happened in Burkittsville (formerly Blair). I really know a lot about this, I will probably give you a link for more info.

Ummmm.....are you absolutley SURE about that?
I always thought the entire mythology behind the Blar Witch was made up for the movie, and was NOT an actual folktale/myth.

If the Blair Witch legend was real I`m sure I would`ve heard something about it in my youth - I`m from the area! I`ve heard all about the Jersey Devil my whole life, but never the Blair Witch.

NONE of it is true. NONE. All of the stories, and books and journals were all written to make the movie seem real, but it really isnt. There aren't any "black hills" and blair never existed. Read the copyrights on all of your blair with legend books, they'll be after the movie was made. As for rustin parr, he was a character made by the directors, i've heard allll of this on shows and documentaries. As believable as it is, none of it is true.

Yeah, EVERYTHING about the Blair Witch was created for the film. All the documentaries and books were written to help support the film and add an air of mystery to it. Just like the infamous opening credits of Texas Chainsaw Massacre. This has been verified by the creators many times already.

Yeah, it's funny how many folks were convinced that either the movie itself was real, or that the story surrounding it was real.

They film producers and Artisan did a really good job of building the story up and creating a lot of documentary-type specials both for TV and on the website about it.

But alas, it's all completely made up.

Sorry Nightcrawler buddy!! Hey, it's still fun to read and think about though.

Artisan and those guys did an excellent job of convincing most of the public that the whole Blair Witch thing was a true story. Hell I went to see it when it opened and theatres and at the end of the movie the crowd was silent. Everyone got up and started to leave an no one said a word. It was creepy as shit but kewl to see that kind of an effect the movie had.

I took a friend of mine to see it a couple days later and had her so convinced that it was real she had her nails dug so far into her boyfriend's arms he had scars for days. LoL.
