Did anybody see this movie? I rented it the other day for no reason, I haven't even seen the other movies in the series. What do you guys think of this movie?

At my Hollywood Video store they carried The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The New Generation.

They never carried the third. That is until I went to another video store. The movie was okay. Watching Leatherface trying to figure out the problem on his little computer was funny as hell. The deaths were pretty neat, and I was surprised to see the black guy from Dawn of the Dead in it.

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: 10/10
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2: 8/10
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3: 7/10
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Genneration 5/10

So you see, the whole series kinda goes down hill...!

It's an ok movie. I liked the other more. Yes, even part 4. Qwerty.

I liked the movie but I prefer the first and second TCM movies. The gas station worker was a riot I won't say more than that because I hate spoilers.

I haven't seen any of these movies, and yet I still call myself a horror fan. Don't blame me totally though, my Blockbuster doesn't carry the TCM series for some reason.

I`ll have to go with my friend (and lover) The Claw on this one - I liked ALL the others more, even "Next Generation". This one was like "TCM: The 80`s Version" and was just dull if you ask me.
Leatherface looked more like a guy from a hair-metal band than a pyschopath killer.
The 'Speak 'n' Spell' scene was the only part I liked.

LOL Elgyn and Claw I was wondering....

Anyway, a very under rated sequel. My second favorite of the series. Very creepy images and chase scenes, a nice plot, good cast. The only thing that bugged me is at the end with the family they entered a lot of ridiculous elements, almost like watching the ending of a differenly filmed picture. Nontheless, very well done. Especially the beginning where the coroners are finding the bodies. And when they hear that squeaking of his leg - excellent, creepy, excellent, creepy. :)

Well instead of making a new thread,I figured I'd just bump up a good ol' thread of the same meaning...

I just watched this again for the 2nd or 3rd time w/ my brother at like 2am...and I got to say,its definetly to me,the best in the serious, and the most underlooked, such a shame. Part 1 was good but I felt overrated,Part 2 was just atrocious, why they'd think of doing such a thing they did with it just makes me confused and nautious at the same time, and well part 4,the next generation...enough said.

this, along with the original, should be the only 2 TCMs out...the remake maybe, havent seen it yet,so I ain't commenting...but as far as the originals, this and the original are the only 2 worth mentioning, and the only 2 that should have been made.

so all in all,I enjoyed the hell out of this one, william butler who played Ryan got VERY annoying with his terrible acting, but RA Mihailoff played a great leatherface and Ken Foree was great too...even my brother who hates the horror genre, really enjoyed Forees character.
Viggo Mortensens worth the mention in this as well...

Also, anybody else notice that on the back of the box of this movie, the original VHS Release cover art,on the back, they mispelled ken forees name and instead put "Ken Force" ?

Nice to see this one bumped up. Glad you have found a new respect for it Cory. Still wish the family scene had been made less "dopey" but overall I agree on it being more serious and better made.

I feared for the series after Part 2. In my eyes 2 was a bad sequel. Leatherface blowed, it was too campy and the main female lead was too damn annoying. Dennis Hopper and some good gore are the only good things. But Part 3 was different. It had a great cast(except willam butler) solid direction and Leatherface, unlike part 2 actually kicked ass. But it had it's own probelms(MPAA, script) and to me some things should of been explained(like how leatherface got a new family) But it was a solid sequel. 7/10

LOVE this one! Gotta agree with Cory, this, the original and the remake should be the only TCM movies to walk the face of the Earth.

I finally went out and bought the new DVD from New Line to see what all the fuss was about. In actuality, I loved it! I have to agree, this sequel, the original and the remake are the way to go in terms of the best TCM movies. Check out the horror DVD review thread for my take on what I thought of the flick.

I too must agree with all of you. Much better than the second and fourth ones.
Ken Foree is a very underrated talent, a kick-ass actor who owned the original Dawn of the Dead in my opinion. I loved his characted and rooted for him all the way.
Leatherface's heavy metal type look was a great addition from this entry, much more intimidating than the other sequels. Also, Viggo Mortenson as Tex did an admirable job. All in all, a good sequel.
P.S. Funny, when I watched the featurette on the Unrated DVD, William Butler talks about how he's now been killed by Leatherface, Jason, AND Freddy. Kinda humorous in a way.

My guess is he was trying to make himself get over so he can get some cash...I am sure he needs it..although he is directing the upcoming 'Gingerdead Man' so that should bring in the cash to set him up for good.

In the 'Saw is family' documentary on the R2 dvd release, WILLIAM (BILL) BUTLER talks about how he has been "killed" by LEATHERFACE, JASON VOORHEES and FREDDY KRUEGER. I know he was one of JASON'S victims in FRIDAY THE 13TH PART 7 but he isn't credited anywhere for being in a NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET movie!!!

Has this guy forgotten the films he's starred in?????

Shit! Just realised my question has already been answered! My bad!

Why the fuck would he say something stupid like that?!!! He even quotes himself saying the only movie killer he hasn't "ran into" was MICHAEL MYERS!

Aww, easily the best of the TCM sequels. Not overly comically like "Part 2" (* out of 4 from me) and not incomprensibly awful as "The Next Generation" (*). This one tried for a darker, more serious tone and tried to bring dignity back to Leatherface. It also has a considerably better screenplay than either of 2 or 4, writing in some decent good guys to root for and a new interesting "family" to accompany Leatherface. And not to mention, a good supply of gore and crazy stuff (a la unrated DVD) for the the evil family clan to show off. I liked it (**1/2). Not great, obviously doesn't compare to the original (***), but it was a decent product that obviously had a lot of heart behind it.

I'm glad the series returned to it's dark roots-The black comedy in part 2 felt off and unfunny.
