What did everyone think of this film....I didnt really see the point since the original still held up and they did the same exact thing frame by frame, except Gus Van Sant's weird flashes of clouds, a lamb, a road, a naked girl...weird shit. And Mrs. Bates let her hair down in this one.....and Anne Heche is no Janet Leigh....what do you guys think of Psycho 1998?

I didn't like it but it was doomed from the start. Trying to remake a classic is always a mistake.

Waste of money and film. It's the exact same thing as the original except it's in COLOR . Completely useless film.

Not to mention Vince Vaughn really was no Norman Bates. He nowhere near conveyed the character of Norman Bates nor was he convincing, unlike Anthony Perkins (rest his soul). I think Vaughn is a REALLY terrible actor, and his lips, whenever he talks, make him look like a fish going "blub, blub, blub!" It's repulsing! Only good thing in the movie was Julianne Moore, and even she wasn't that great in her role, but she was better than most.

Well put, I wanted to see a tribute, not a rip-off.

*SPOILER*

Seeing and hearing Vince Vaughn jerk off to Anne Heche isn't what I call horror, it's just damn scary!

There was no point....the story worked as an older idea. The film worked in black and white. And norman Bates was perfect. Why, then, remake it???

I destroy copies of this one for kicks. Gus van Sant should be bruned at the stake, with the whole movie community watching. The only thing different in this one from the original was the beyond disturbing montage of VInce Vaughn jerking off. Seriously, the only thing even close to being that disturbing is the curb stomp in American History X. And the only more disturbing would be a video of Marlon Brando getting head from Rosie O'Donnell.

Maybe I'm just insane but I found it to be interesting...I do think the original was bookoos better than this one - but it was still something I'd like to own on DVD.

Maybe it's the fact that I followed it from pre-production stages...I just liked the way he went to such great lengths to copy each frame, each angle, etc.

I liked it, it still kept that same Hitchcock ambiance, was visually stunning (building upon Hitchcock's style, loved the shower scene, pretty much the same but in more detail!!) and had great performances (IMHO) I'm glad they didn't take liberties and try to alter the story, possibly tarnishing the first and maybe this movie had no point in being made but I love this movie as an effective tribute to the original
