I did a little two for one action by my lonesome at the theatres yesterday checking out Hollow Man and Coyote Ugly. After Hollow Man I went in to grab my seat for Coyote and got to thinking about exactly where the best place is to sit in a theatre.

I personally like to sit closer than further away to where the screen almost takes up my peripheral vision.

What are your guys opinions to the best place to sit in a theatre?

it depends on who i am with....if i have my oldest...which is rare, we sit close In the middle section. If i am by myself, i sit 4th row in the left section. If my hubby deciedes to tag along we sit in the back top right section....

my ideal place is about 6 rows back right in the middle, but if people sit in front of me or directly behind me i move. easy knowing that i usually go on my lonesome during the day, so the theatre is usually fairly empty.

I actually had the joy of seeing fightclub, mi2 and magnolia all on my own alone in the cinema, now thats pretty cool.

I agree with yvonne if my wife comes too we usually sit somewhere way back.

i like sitting right smack dab in the middle of the theater! to me its the best, you see more, and you are lined up with the screen pretty good.

or i like sitting a couple of rows in front of the middld

Front Middle. That is the best place to sit. You get the sound and picture better, but you have to focus your eyes. But, if i'm watching a kungfu movie or any actiion movie, it sux because it';s really confusing. but you can also throw shit at the screen if u don't like the movie

I don't know about any of you but I've always perferred the back, I really don't like it in the front because I like some space between me and the screen, and the middle is......ok.

The best seat depends on the situation I guess, but if you have the choice of all the seats and have 20/20 vision and hearing, you should head for any seat in the middle/middle to middle/front area. Most theatres have the sound directed towards the centre of the auditorium and you should be experiencing some darn fine 3D audio. It's always nice for the whole screen to just about hog your peripheral vision too, but don't sit so close that it becomes like spectating a tennis match when the two characters on-screen have a gunfight or conversation!

However, if you're short-sighted, attach your prescribed eye-apparel or move your way to the front. Auditoriums with loops for the hearing-impaired should sit as close to the middle as possible... where the induction loop is magnified at its peak...

oops, sorry. I think I got carried away again..

I think it sort of depends on the theater. There is one theater here that has reclinable seats up front so your neck never gets uncomfortable and eventually stiff. But there are some cheap ones where you have to go to a chiropractor afterwards if you sit in the front. My favorite place is 4-6 rows up, middle.

the AIDS legend is not true, check it out on www.snopes.com (http://www.snopes.com) it is pure fiction.
