Some of you schomes will probably chew me out for waiting so long, but I finally got see CANDYMAN. I have to say it was handled really well, nicely developed characters, and the story had lots of charisma. I really liked this movie a lot. But one thing bugs me, which is the ending. This is what I would have had happen instead if I was the screenwriter/director.

When Trevor calls for Helen five times in the mirror, he confesses what a mistake he made cheating on her and wants to make a deal. Helen is to kill Trevor's new love interest, Stacy, then Helen is to kill him so that he can be with Helen and be cleansed of his betrayal. When Helen offs Stacy, she comes back and kisses Trevor passionately and as they are embraced she slowly inserts the hook into him and cuts him open, killing him, but with them still kissing. Then it fades to the picture on the wall of Helen in the old abandoned apartment.

END SPOILERS!
But anyway, besides perfering my ending over the ending I saw coming miles off, I really liked this movie. CANDYMAN forever! Too bad the sequels sucked. Well, FAREWELL TO THE FLESH was alright but part 3 just sucked!

Unfortunately I haven't seen it yet. I've heard lots of good things though and saw a few scenes on cable a few times. I heard its pretty creepy/freaky. I'll probably check it out sometime.

To me Candyman is one of the most well-done supernatural horror films of all time. I loved everything about it -- although I agree the very ending left a little to be desired and I ended up feeling slightly cheated after it. More of Clive Barkers stories should be made onto the screen. It took me to a few watches to get this movie completely (yes, I am ashamed of that fact - but I was younger, it's an excuse I will stick by). Great music too. :) If you haven't seen it I recommend it.

IMHO, this is one of the greatest horror films of all time, its excellently filmed and scripted, all of the acting is great, theres a lot of nice gore and its very entertaining
i also liked the sequel a lot, (i havent yet seen 3) and thought it was nearly as good as the first film
Candyman - 10/10
Farewell to the Flesh - 9/10

Cronos, whatever you do... DO NOT WATCH CANDYMAN 3! You've been warned. It's REALLY bad.
Anyway, what do you guys think of my ending?

Candyman is a modern horror classic, although I agree that the ending feels like a studio insert. An intriguing blend of gore and class, which is quite a rarity. Farewell to the Flesh is a solid follow-up. The acting ranges from convincing to mediocre, but the gore/class ratio is still proportionate. The third film...wow. Fucking bile that relegates the series to being sleaze material. I've never been more disappointed in a sequel in my entire life. If you're an intractable completist, rent it, but go in with insulting expectations.

Candyman was an awesome flick! I remember the first time I saw it....man I was lil' and holy shit I wouldn't go to the bathroom and look anywhere near the mirror. I was soo damn scared. Ah what fun it was to be young!

Candyman is and always will be the scariest movie I have ever seen. I saw it at the movies when I was 12 and it has forever left its imprint on me. Now that I'm more than 10 years older, I can appreciate its intelligence on top its scariness. Every time I watch it I'm left feeling shaken. Tony Todd's menacing stare is much, much, much, much more terrifying than anything he does with that hook! Why this role didn't land him a higher profile is beyond me. I can't remember much about part 2 - not good, not bad. Part 3 was pure crap. A Baywatch babe as the heroine? Come on.
