How far will 'Pirates of the Caribbean' and 'LXG' go?

Schmoes, how far do you think Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl and The Leauge of Extraordinary Gentlemen go at the domestic box office?

My predix.....

Pirates of the Caribbean - 213 million

LXG - 79 million

Pirates of the Caribbean- 120 million. I can't see why you guys are saying this will make 230 million. The Hulk had a 62 million opening and ended up with about 130 if I can recall. This will drop 60% this weekend.

The League of Extrordinary Gentlemen- 90-100 million. This one had an alright opening but I think it won't drop much in the next few weeks and it will finish with enough money to satisfy.

LXG - 75 mil. (I'd love for this to make 100 which would make a sequel much more of a reality).

A) The Hulk is still in theatres, it should end up with 140 million at least.

B) Whereas the Hulk was almost universally hated, Pirates of the Caribbean has a 98% approval rating on CinemaScore. Word-of-mouth affects box office a lot.

Going off that too..definately will make it to at least the 200 mark- probably more though.

Word of mouth has been anything but good for LXG, with only a 19% on RottenTomatoes.com. But it should be able to make it to at least $70 million before ending its run.

POTC, on the other hand, has gotten great word of mouth, good reviews, and very good staying power, only dropping 29% in its second weekend. This is a lock for the $200 million mark now and might even challenge THE MATRIX RELOADED for the second place spot in the summer blockbusters.

"Pirates" is obviously going to a huge word-of-mouth smash for Bruckheimer and Co. Nice to see the pirate genre is back!

Pirates is back to number 1 again on Tuesday. It barely managed to beat out Bad Boys 2. Very impressive, I think this movie will go very far. So far it has shown extremely impressive legs.

I estimate 250 Million finish domestically.
