Yes, the magical sounds of Lynyrd Skynyrd. I've always liked the Skynyrd, but I'm just now getting into it. In fact, I'm listening to Simple Man, as we speak, chat, type, whatever the hell.

Some of their stuff I'm still "iffy" about. Like Free Bird. The slow part is amazing, emotional, and great. But I don't know, it just seems to lose something when that, as Puck Bond once coined it, the "5 minute-riff" comes along. Would've been a lot better song if they had kept it slow, in my opinion.

Anywho. Still, an amazing band. It's mostly love or hate type stuff, but I sure do love them. Your thoughts?

You bugga maniac! Come on dude...the era of 5 minute guitar riffs and drum solos are great...i'll take that over modern pop and most rock songs that last 3-4 minutes!

Anyway Skynyrd is the shit...though they reek of Southern racism...think Dukes of Hazard and all that homedown country stuff...still a good yet tragic band...I love Freebird, That Smell, Sweet Home Alabama and Tuesday's Gone...perfect song for the part in Dazed and Confused.

Oh, Puck, you tossa! You got me there. I too would rather listen to the guitar and drums than any rap song/pop song out today. Tuche'.

I'm from Alabama. Yes, the land of broken dreams and George Dickel swilling good ol' boys. And in Alabama, there is a law, and that law states that if one holds a social event/ sports event/ small gathering/ and gathering or event, you MUST play either Frrebird or Sweet Home Alabama at least twice or you face a fine of $2000 and a torch to the nutsack. Obviously I cannot tell you how much I hated hearing them, evertime I wanted to crawl up in a ball and have toxic waste poored on me whilst I wallowed in my own defecation and a big fat guy would kick me with floppy clown shoes in the ribs till I died. But, since moving, I have grown rather fond of them, and hate them no more. I guess it was just to much of a good thing-ish scenario. But please, don't ever play thoise tw songs around me ever again. It's like a vietnamish scenario, you'll be picking at old wounds and I'll be forced to kill your Charlie ass.

Damn Commy's.
Sweet Home Alabama is worst than Chinese water torture while having bot testicals hooked to a car battery and being forced to watch Police Academy 8: Mission to Moscow all at the same time.

I'm glad I'm out of Alabama when looking back on memories such as these. Course, Tenessee aint much better.

Life away from my guard must've got to you. Don't worry, there's still hope. I'll make it like old times, you know, when you would've rather got chainsaw sodomized before listening to Skynyrd. Mark my words....Dignan....mark my words....
P.S.- He's not joking about that law....it's real.

This weekend I bought Second Helping by Lynyrd Skynyrd. It's really a terrific album. Some songs I like are "The Ballad of Curtis Loew", "Don't Ask me No Questions", and "Call Me The Breeze". I think Skynyrd is a much better band than I previously give them credit for.

Oh, and I like Free Bird now. Hell, I love it. Amazing.

Skynard is a great band and is easily in my top 5 all time. They genuinely loved to play music and they loved playing it with each other (you can really tell in their live songs). I often times feel that they can be a bit underrated. When a "the best rock and roll band ever" topic comes up, you always here the Rolling Stones, Led Zepplein, The Who, etc. (and rightfully so). However, ole Skynard can be forgotten about, or atleast their music is overshadowed by their tragic death, though most musicians give them lots of respect. I mean I agree that some of their songs can be a bit overplayed ("Free Bird", "Sweet Home Alabama"), but I can sit and listen to ALL of their songs and thoroughly enjoy it.

My personal favorites: "Gimme Back my Bullets", "Workin for MCA", "Call me the Breeze", "Down South Jukin", and (I could go on forever but Ill end it with) "The Ballad of Curtis Lowe".

Skynyrd rules! I saw them live, they killed! "Freebird" is an amazing song, and I love the "5 minute riff". You can't go wrong with "Sweet Home Alabama", or "That Smell" either. Awesome band.

Lynyrd Skynyrd is the best thing to come out of Jacksonville, FL since....well...EVER. :p

Unfortunately now everytime I hear Sweet Home Alabama all I think of is the ending credits to Con Air. Damn you Bruckheimer!!!!!

Skynyrd and Creedence Clearwater Revival produced some of the best old fashioned southern rock songs I've ever heard.

Oh and believe it or not their latest album isn't all that bad.
