When I first heard about this movie, the concept sounded very original and made me want to see it. After finally viewing MBD (The Criterion DVD uncut) I have to say this was one really well made film. I knew that I would at least find some enjoyment in this film being a huge fan of American Psycho. However to my suprise this film was not only darkly comedic and vastly disturbing, it was also powerful and works great as a social commentary/satire. There are some brutal scenes in this movie and the comedy may be a tad dark for some but if you can accept the film for what it is you will be pleasently suprised. I don't condone any of the actions in the film nor do I enjoy the acts that take place in these type of films but I think its always interesting to see things like this brought out in film.
(9/10)
I'm one of the few people who didn't find this film disturbing at all, just hilarious. It is a black comedy, but only in the subject matter it deals with. I recommend it to anyone who likes a good laugh.

The rape scene is a bit disturbing, but the shouting at the granny is hilarious.

Highly original and scathingly amusing this film delivers its thrills laced with black humour in a very stylish way.
Loved the B&W cinematography and also the satirical script........Not for everybody but fans of the like minded HENRY: PORTRAIT OF A SERIAL KILLER and NATURAL BORN KILLERS will no doubt be entertained and amused.
Personally I dig it and think its a great forign gem.

I have to agree. Cruel but painfully funny.
I can only parrot the above.
9/10, a gem.

The first half is better than the 2nd, the film crawls to a stop until the finale.
But it has some gems of black humour. My favourite is when he shoots a mailman and says to us "I like to start the week with a Postman"!
Excellent.
It's sick more than nasty for the most part...the nasty stuff appears later on with a sequence involving a female victim.
It was passed uncut in the UK with amazingly very little tabloid newspaper fuss...the biggest stink was actually about the poster for it.
It's a great, extreme, image (I still have the t-shirt) of the lead character, shot from above, firing a gun downwards and at the bottom is a baby's dummy being thrust into the air by a big spray of blood.
It's actually more graphic than anything in the actual film...and he never even shoots a baby in the movie.
Great marketing though, but it was banned later on and a tamer version replaced it that I believe removed the dummy.

I saw this today, it was excellent. 10/10. At parts a little disturbing, yes, but nothing that bothers me too much since none of it seems gratuitious (gratuitious meaning unnecessary to the movie). Possibly my favorite foreign film, I'll have to check out more Belgian movies. Anyone have any suggestions?

I agree that this movie is very good. Although I didn't really find much of it disturbing (except for the rape scene). I thought of it more as a black comedy type movie. But still very good. I'll have to watch it again soon though, my mind is rusty on this movie, it's probably been over a year since I last saw it. 8/10.
