After all this time of long waiting, were gonna get to see Undead in the United States!

Those cool dudes at Lions Gate just aquired the rights to distribution in the US, but the news doesnt say if it will be released only on DVD, or in theaters, but either way were gonna see this baby real soon!

This film looks like its gonna be the next big zombie movie that will make horror fans happy, its gotten great reviews, and the pics and previews look amazing. I really have high hopes for this film, wich will surely be right up there with Dead Alive and Evil Dead II as the best of Horror/extreme- gore/comedy genre!

Is this good news or what??!!

If youve got no idead what Im talking about head over here (http://www.joblo.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=22534&highlight=undead) for a cool thread with all the info youll ever need on this movie!

Or visit the official site of the film! Undead (www.undeadmovie.com)

Knowing Lion's Gate, we'll get a limited release at best, unless they pull a Cabin Fever. Either way, I'm plunking down money as soon as inhumanly possible to catch this flick.

Whatever happened to the directors? One of them was on the boards to answer a few questions but that's it.

I've seen the poster, but I know NOTHING about this movie. I might go rent it if I hear it is good.

Saw it in April at the Dead By Dawn fesitval in Edinburgh. This was a fucking amazing film, and highly recommended to all people, not just horror fans. The big hillbilly guy with the custom shotgun is fucking amazing and some of the slow-motion action scenes (of which there is one on the trailer) can possibly make you wet your pants with joy.

Thoroughly recommended. It gets a bit weird near the end (but in a good way), but the first 90% of the film is unbelieveable.

I'd just like to echo what Scully said.

If an overrated hackfest like 28 days later can get released in theaters over here in the US and actually make some decent BO , then i don't see why a film that looks to be far suprior like Undead can't make even more money if it gets a decent distribution . I am concerned that Lion's Gate has picked this up , they seem to be clueless when it comes to marketing , or maybe they aren't willing to dish out the duckets to effectively distribute certain films .

Anyway , i'm hoping i get to watch this in the theater , but if not i'll definitely settle for the DVD , it will be an instant classic all the way . I've said that before and i still believe that to be true . Along with the Speirig bros becoming a highly succesful directing tandem , on the same level as a Peter Jackson , but times two .

Now , please can you get this thing in theaters for a circa Halloween release ? I'm anticipating this film just as much as some other shmoes , it looks terrific beyond belief , and i think it's going to be a swift kick in the bumside of Hwood that an amazing film , with terrific visual FX can be made on the cheap with a lot of work , imagination , inspiration , skill and talent .

Oh my god this looks awesome. I've been a little dissapointed with the zombie scene the last few years. Resident Evil was ok and 28 days later was a nice change of pace for the genre, but there havnt been much in the way of traditional "romeroesque" zombie films.
After watching the preview i can safely say that i am totally psyched to see this one. Hopefully Lion's Gate will at least give it a limited NY/LA release. Ill pay for the train ticket to NYC for this one.
With the success of 28 days later, the only thing that I think affect Undead's release will be the success of Cabin Fever, so lets all get out there and see that one so this doesnt get stuck DTV.

Nah, Lion's Gate are dedicated to horror in my opinion. True, they don't release film wide enough or to enough cinemas, but if it weren't for them we'd stil be waiting for someone to pick up House Of 1000 Corpses, never mind awaiting its DVD release.

That's what i meant , they rarely give a film a chance , and they always seem to limit there films to limited release . They should at least , hopefully , release it in a couople of major markets , and let it pick up some steam , as i'm sure it will , then expand it to 1000 theaters or so . I don't see this film garmering a 3000 plus theater count , but 1000 , eventually sounds about right .

Anyway , i'm just extremely happy that this film has been picked up for a North American release in any form .

I'm really surprised Fox Searchlight or Fineline , or Sony Pictures Classics didn't pick this one up . It could be that it hasn't made enough money overseas yet , like 28 days did .

They actually posted answers to some of our questions in the undead thread that was opened a while back he answered under the screen name "Zombie man" so check out the link I posted below for all things undead.

Look for all you need to know about this movie
here dude! (http://www.joblo.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=22534&highlight=undead) or at the official website for the movie. (http://www.undeadmovie.com/)

And as for Lionsgate, what sucks about them is just that the films get little to no release. But whats great about em is that they actually put out a lot of good horror films like House of a thousand Corpses and May. At least we can rely on them to complete our horror collections! :D Heres hoping they make a decent dvd, with killere extras, not like the May DVD wich had nothing!

This makes me happy in pants...

Anyways... I agree with just about everything that has been said here. I am dying to see this movie. Have been for a long time. Fortunately, I live in the DC area and it's a 30 minute drive to a nice little theater in Dupont Circle that always seems to get all the limited releases. So, I'm not worried if it's limited... but I want something of this (anticpated) caliber to be much wider so we can continue to show studios we don't fuck around when they hand us something decent!!

Thank god that for every crappy horror film from, say, Dimension, we get a kick-ass movie like this from Lion's Gate. Horror fans thank you, Lion's Gate!

Damn, this film still hasnt been released by Lionsgate! I checked their site to see if they at least had it in their Upcoming releases, but not even.

When is Lionsgate thinking of releasing this very much anticipated zombie flick?

Couldn't wait for Lion's Gate , so i snagged a copy of the region 4 DVD , and it wasn't as great as i suspected ( as a zombie film ) , although considering it's budget , and the fact that this was the Spierig Bros first full length feature , plus the fact that they just about handled all aspects of the production themselves , including the fx added in post and the sound effects , i have to say i'm very impressed .

It's obvious these guys are extremely talented filmmakers , so i expect them to tackle even bigger and better things in the near future .

The visuals are terrific , no doubt , you will forget you're watching a low budget film in some instances . How they created such visuals with such limited means is beyond my comprehension , they really put some effort into this thing . Although , the script , acting , and characterizations are sorely lacking ( save for the Beautiful lead actress and the guy that plays Mungo ) , straight out of film school or maybe even hired from the relative pool . Some of them become very irritating not long after their introductions . I knew the over the top characterizations would hurt the film , and in my opinion it did . Please , lay off the comedy , it works without it .

Won't matter , the action and the visual effects will keep you entertained for just about the entire running time , with a ludicrous but awe inspiring ( for a Z budget film ) climax that you will never see coming ( allright maybe , but you'll still be suprised at the visuals , very excellent indeed ) . Not only the cgi is terrific , some of the cinematography blew me away also . The outback has never looked so good in an independent film . Some of the compositions put big budget films to shame , good job .

Somehow , i see these guys as great visual fx artists , more effective under someone else's direction , only because the directing seemed scattershot , as if they didn't have full control of the actors or a definitive narrative vision .

What they do have is a sense of wonder for the art of cinema , tremendous talent , and a keen eye for dazzling special effects .

Oh yeah , i forgot about the prostethics , there isn't that much here ( maybe there is more than i think , it's hard to tell the difference between the computer fx and the actual makeup fx in certain scenes ) , but what is , is just as good as the cgi fx . The gore is plentiful too , in a Dead Alive / Bad Taste sort of way . Not repulsive , and too over the top to be disgusting , also it's edited a certain way as to make it difficult to fully appreciate . It's a low budget , " cheap " tricks are necessary .

No , this isn't the groundbreaking zombie film i claimed or thought it would be , but it's visually groundbreaking with regards to independent cinema , and it will put these young enterprising bucks on the map , as they deserve to be .

Kudos , although i was looking for an all out zombie fest and didn't get it , that's the fault with my expectations , because Undead is a great film , for any genre .

Lion's Gate get your heads out of your arses , and get this thing over here now , you'll just keep on losing money to the official Reg 4 DVD ( they don't own the rights to that version ) and Pirate copies of the reg 4 release you numbsculls . People want to see this thing and they want to see this thing now , get rolling , get moving , get a clue .

PS - it doesn't hurt that the lead actress is one sizzling young lady , with gorgeous bedroom eyes . There is a nicely done underwear shot of her , and , allright i'll stop now .

Decent flick. Great special fx considering it's low budget, but the pacing was quite off, and the acting really, really sucked (with the exception of the main woman). The character of Marion came across as more of a redneck than a cool action hero.

I also was groaning how in the beginning Marion would save everybody, then the cops would take his guns away, then he saves them again, they take the guns away again, etc.

don't get too excited. It isn't that great. the story is weird (it's about Aliens!!, but it's still a good movie). the zombies and gore are awesome. I think it's better than 28 days later!!!

P.S. I have a copy that I wouldn't mind selling or trading. pm me if you are interested. :)
