Being a huge Friday fan, I have never seen this part. I haven't because I heard Jason isn't even in it, so I said what was the point? I recently received it as a gift on dvd, and I just have to ask. How do we know it's an imposter? Do they tell you?

No actually it shows you at the end who it really is, it's mostly how how paranoid and possessed Tommy Jarvis is, i like this one though, kinda like JGTH, but with out the demon story line.

Its pretty good (7/10), and I figured out who the killer was near the end of the movie.

I had no idea it was a different man until the end when I first watched it. One of my favorite fridays.

If your a Friday the 13th fan you should of have seen this. But if not, yes cause it is decent with a couple good kills(flares in mouths, head crushings, stabbings galore etc.) and a kinda cool ending. Its not as good as as the last two or 6-10 but still decent although the whole imposter thing is not as fleshed out like i wanted. But decnet. 6/10

I have a question too : is Tommy Jarvis a murderer, see the very last scene !!! U see him holding a knife and about to kill the woman !!

The impostor is the killer/Jason wannabe. I think that Tommy only saw the "Jason vision" and ran away (all out of his own paranoia) and that the real Jason was in the last frame - all to be a spoof ending, as "A New Beginning" is a spoof-"Friday The 13th" entry, since Jason is not the killer...which doesn't ruin the movie either. Jason is absent, but we get a good Jason impression from the impostor, as he slices and dices one of the largest body couts of people for a 'Friday The 13th" and horror film in general. The movie is vague to me, but I do remember it as a worthy ''Friday The 13th" film and one of the gorier R-rated horror films. It also has good characters/actors to boot.

Yea.. After all these years I finally saw it. My mother bought it for me. She is the best:). I watched it and it was great!! I kind of wished it was jason though. But all in all it was a great flick!!
SPOILERS!!
Especially when Reggie saw the imposter and screamed like a little girl!! Ha ha

I don't know, I was kinda disappointed with this one. This one, along with Jason Takes Manhattan are the entries that I try to ignore. Not having Jason in this one (which I knew was going to happen) and being forced to hear that damn little kid scream like a girl got on my nerves. The fact that the overabundance of T&A didn't save this pic for me sealed the deal. I'd leap-frog over this one and go for part 6.

Actually he was in it. At the start, at the end and everywhere in between. Even though he was dreams. He was still in it.

I always liked this Friday entry. I didn't think it was the best, but it's far from being the worst either. I thought it had all the good slasher elements to it, just no Jason. All you schmoes that are so enthralled with the '80s should love this one. It had a killer '80s mojo to it.:)

I don't really consider that counting as being 'in the film'. Meh, it makes no difference, I still stand by my opinion.

That's cool. But he was in the movie. Just not really. You know what I mean? He was a dream..

True, but he did nothing and was nothing for the film other than to be a torment for Tommy. Personally, the series picked itself up after Part 6. Kane Hodder is the man, pure and simple.
