I hope rising Hollywood starlet Renee Zellweger isn't the superstitious type. On the same week that she signed her biggest Hollywood deal to date, $21 million to star in the Bridget Jones sequel and Cinderella Man with Russell Crowe, Renee was involved in a car accident in Detroit.
I know what you're asking yourselves, what was Renee Zellweger doing in Detroit? Well, besides being a good place to pack on the pounds necessary for her to reprise her role in Bridget Jones: The Edge Of Reason, it happens to be the hometown of her rumored boyfriend. Unfortunately, he didn't walk away unscathed.
Jack White, lead singer of the rock band The White Stripes, was driving his Hollywood girlfriend around his hometown on his birthday (July 9) when the accident occured. The singer/guitarist suffered a compound fracture to his index finger on his left hand which has forced The White Stripes to cancel two key European dates for this weekend.
White and Zellweger met on the set of the film Cold Mountain, a highly touted film due to be released this Christmas, where they played husband and wife. White also contributed American Folk music to the movie's soundtrack.

What I wanna know is - is she getting 21 million for those two movies combined or 21 each?

All I gotta say about this is thank god shes becoming a full figured woman with sexy as hell curves again and no longer going to be this 'skinny as a bean pole, i can see your ribs through your dress, someone sucked my face off and now the skin is clinging to my bones' girl that she is now.

Well, that's nice to know. I think she's worth it.
Why couldn't God have spared White and injured Zellweger? I might miss out on a concert thanks to White's injury.

I don't know...She sure is worth it as much as any other actress out there, but I've always found it weird to pay someone over 20 million bucks just for a gig, whatever their job. Then again, if someone did offer me that kind of money, I sure wouldn't spit on it...

The Toronto dates been postponed, and I bought tickets for that. It looks like it'll be pushed back until late August (or so I heard), which is when I leave for Halifax, at the other side of the damn country for University.
A terrible tragedy :(
And what an odd pairing........Zellweger and Jack White.........opposites attrack I suppose.

No one is worth that much money. NO ONE. Thats a ridiculous amount of money to be paid for one movie. Of course so is the 30 million Ah-nuld got for T3.

I knew my comment would cause such a reaction. So let me clarify - without getting into whetever or not actors in general are worth 20-30 million per movie, when Arnie's getting 30, Julia 25 etc. Renee is definitely worth 21 comparatively.

The White Stripes had to cancel their set at a music festival I attended a week ago as a result of this. Buggering fuck!!!

I too lived in Halifax and I loved it, but when it comes to non-canadian music acts, it's a sewer...mostly. Plus, I have nothing but negative words to say about DAL, but I won't get into that.
On topic: Renee is a good actress, and I'm glad she's okay and all, but no one needs or deserves 21 Mil to do a movie. Hey Hollywood! I am 18, soon to be 19, I'm a prime candidate to be one of the new stars on the rise and I won't cost an arm and a leg! COME ON! SIGN ME UP! :P

Negative. I don't know how much she's making for the second film, but I know she's making over 20 for Bridget Jones.
