I just saw a huuge presentation by Rob Zombie about house of a thousand corpses today and he talked alot about the sequel that's in the works. I thouught some schmoes might be interested in what he had to say. The sequel is going to concentrate on the family, giving a more in depth background to who they are and how they came together. It is green lit and it will be coming out from lions gate pictures.

Oh and on a side note:

For the House of a thousand corpses dvd they got into costumes and shot very very lengthy interactive dvd menu's. Also there is a feature they kept giggling about but wouldn't spill the beans called "Tiny fucks a stump". They seemed really proud of it.

so is it like a prequel or something?

Well if it goes into the background of the family I would assume that its a prequel. BTW When's this thing coming out on DVD? Or is it out already?

actually it's not a prequel at all. It's been reported that it starts out just as the last film ends, as the cops are showing up at the house. it doesn't have to be a prequel to delve further into the origins of the family.

House of 1,000 Corpses is my 3rd favorite movie of the year. It's behind May 10/10 and Wrong Turn 9/10. So I can't wait for this!

I was crazy about the first one and this sounds like it might be even better. It will be interesting to learn more about this bizarre family and how they came to be this way.I hope that Captain Spaulding also has a bigger role in this one.

will the dvd be unrated, or at least contain the scenes they cut out?

Zombie says they didn't cut very much at all out. But the stuff they cut won't be on the dvd.

That sucks, there were little things I heard about that I wanted to see; like Baby asking the girls if they eat pussy. Hopefully there will at least be a deleted scenes section on the dvd.

*sigh*

I still don't get the big hoopla with this movie. With all due respect, I just got bored with it. I remember Zombie saying something about how he was paying homage to the previous 50's films...and if this was his idea of a homage, gosh...

I'd love to love the movie - I really would...could anyone fill me in on why it's so groovie?

I was so very excited when this movie was first released, only to go to the theater, alone, to the very last show and was...kinda...scared. It didn't deliver the goods to me at all. It was "Eh." at best. I will probably buy the dvd to see if I can learn to love it though.:D

I can't wait for a sequel and the DVD even though it's not unrated. That sucks but I think I'll get over it.

As for the sequel, I trust that Zombie knows what he's doing and makes another great movie.

Actually, they did cut quite a bit. At some film festivals, the movie was 105 mins long, so they cut about 20 mins of footage from the thatrical release. It's reported the unrated and uncut version won't come out until the sequel gets released. I respect Rob, but how could he do that to us?! He promised us an uncut DVD! Sure, he's still planning to go with it, but he's going to make us wait for another release of the movie on DVD when the sequel comes out.

Also, just to clear this up for some schomes. The actual initials to HOUSE OF 1000 CORPSES are HO1KC, and not HOATC. Just wanted to clear that up.

It's a homage to previous movies in that it used heavily stylized settings, characters, and camera effects to create atmosphere rather than special effects or explicit gore (per-se). I love how much style this film oozed. It had that incredibly gritty feel of TCM during the long slow-motion pan-out with Otis and the cop, and the grainy shot look of the ending. Dr. Satan himself was very reminiscent in style of a lot of the "classic" monsters (by classic I mean pre-1960's). And the over the top characters seemed to be a hodgepodge mix of characters from "The Hills Have Eyes", "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" and "Deliverance", among others. None of the good guys were likeable in the least, and while that does seem like a new twist on the horror genre, it was kind of welcome. Seeing them die off was kind of a delightful little glee, if for nothing else to have someone shut them up.

I'm so tired of hearing so much bickering on this dvd and the sequel. Here it is plain and simple, If you don't like the fact the dvd isn't uncut right now, DON'T BUY IT! If you don't like the fact there making a sequel, DON'T WATCH IT! I mean damn, I love this movie, and all the people complaining should just shut there mouths and NOT WORRY BOUT IT! If they release an uncut one, get it when it comes out, doesn't mean you have to buy the dvd as soon as it comes out. I know some people didn't like this, but it doesn't mean you gotta rain blood on everyone elses horror parade.

I'm not raining on anyone's parade. I was just expecting that uncut DVD because that's what we were promised first, but then we get news that it won't have the 20 mins restored. It's just felt like a slap in the face. I do like the fact they are trying to take care in making the DVD good, but it was just this slap in my face to learn that footage won't make it back in until the sequel comes round. I'm still getting this DVD regardless to see what it offers. I'm sure it still is fun.

Jay, I wasn't talking you specifically, just mostly everyone that didn't like the movie in the first place, just cause they plan a sequel doesn't mean you gotta bash the next one. But, I do feel the uncut dvd would be nice, but i'm not gonna hold my breath now, i'll just be happy with what I got. Besides, i'm too busy waiting for that and the action figures coming out...

Sorry, the talkback about Big Trouble in Little China's sequel got me wanting a Lo Pan avatar. I'll probably change it back to the clown in about a week lol.

I seriously doubt that it was Rob's decision to make. He has to answer to Lion's Gate, a studio that practically advocates "double-dipping."

I'm worried you got the wrong impression from me. I didn't like the movie - but I have no comment on the sequel...mostly because I HAVEN'T SEEN IT YET. I don't like to pass judgement on films that I haven't even seen. Again, I didn't like House of a Thousand Corpses but that doesn't mean I won't like the second one.

I apologize for any misunderstanding...I didn't mean to piss you off :(

I just thought you`d like to know this. The sequel is said not do deal with the family killing off another group of innocent people.
Rob had said that the wackoes from the first movie go against another group of loonies.....

Ok, I just read the ComicCon info on HO1KC and the sequel, and found out why the director's cut isn't coming yet. I am fully understand, and shall wait. But I will definitely grab up the upcoming DVD.

Look on the main page to ARROW IN THE HEAD. Look toward the middle of the page involving the ComicCon stuff.
