What are your thoughts on this actor who got his start on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air? He gets a big fat NAY from me. He was O.K on Fresh Prince, but in the movie world, I think he is a no-talent hack who may draw in big box-office numbers, but can't act for shit in movies. Whenever I see a movie that's number 1, and that movie stars Will Smith, I just cringe.

No way, man. Fresh Prince was awesome. It's one of the funniest sitcoms out there. Sure, his movies might suck, but his presence on Fresh Prince gives him a semi-qualified YAY.

I liked him in Men in Black and Independence Day (guilty pleasure). He's fun to watch and can be very likeable. I don't think he's a great actor, but he's definately not a terrible one. He should stick to the action and action-comedy roles that he does so well in.

Yay.

Yay. He's very talented comedically (Fresh Prince was a real showcase for his comic genius) and he's even becoming a great actor (Ali, Six Degrees of Separation). Now, the music? Ugh. But as an actor, good stuff...

Ugh, NAY. He was good in Fresh Prince of Bel Air, but in the movie world he just sucks *so* bad (except for Six Degrees of Separation), almost every movie could have been better if he wasn't cast.

Yay. I think he's the only rap artist who's serious about acting and has some solid talent out there...loved him as ALI, love him in his comedy stuff, seems like a fun guy, and I even like the music. :)

YAY for his very charming personality, but his acting choices are interresting at times. Excluding Ali, he never really tried to be anything other then a blockbuster summer movie star, so at least he's not trying to be something he's not. And he really was good in Ali. I don't know, consider me neutral :p

He's just too likable of a guy for me to give anything but a yay to

YAY

I've been a Fresh rince fan for years, and I think this guy is funny and talented.
And he did a super cheezy rap song for the ANOES..... 3? 2? 4?
Hmmm...
I forget. Anyway, I have it on MP3, and anyone who can hold his own while rapping with Fred Krueger gets a huge yay from me.

And whatever happened to Carlton? I coulda sworn I just saw him in a McDonald's commercial... :(

You did. That was, in fact, Alfonso Ribeiro (Carlton) in that McDonald's commercial. Sad, eh?

Sure some of his movies are of questionable taste, but overall, he certainly exudes charm and genuine good humour. A big YAY from me.

He gets a YAY from me. He may not be the best actor out there, but he's a summer movie staple, and a great presence onscreen. Wild Wild West may've sucked, but ID4, Men in Black, and Fresh Prince were great showcases for his charisma onscreen. A YAY from me

I loathed Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. I loathed Independence Day. I loathed Men in Black I&II. So... nay.

YAY!

I loved MIB, he was great with Tommy Lee Jones :) I think he's really funny and charming. Has anyone seen the outtakes from MIB2? The really long take in the car is hilarious!

He's pretty decent in Bad Boys II. He's also in my second most anticipated movie of 2004. I, Robot. I cannot wait to see that

Yay!

Yay. Funny, seemingly very cool guy. Not the greatest of actors, but he did a credible (but not Oscar-worthy) job in the otherwise crappy Ali.

Yay. Good actor, very charasmatic. His best performance was not in Ali but IMO was in Enemy of the State. Although he was also very good in The Legend of Bagger Vance. And am I the only one who actually enjoyed Wild Wild West?

I'm so in the middle with him...
I hate rap music with a passion, so a nay there
his movies have been decent popcorn flicks, but I'm not sure if it was due to him or the source material, so a half-hearted yay
his box office work, a yay
brother is getting motherfucking paid, a big yay

Look at it this way: ANYTHING is a step up from Silver Spoons. Right? RIGHT!

Will Smith is extremely charismatic and talented. I always enjoy him, regardless of the schlock he is in (what WAS Independence Day...oy vay). Fresh Prince may not have been the most clever show, but he was always a riot.

Favorite quote.

Ashley: Will, you can't tell him that. How did you feel when you found out Shaft wasn't real?
Will:...S...Shat's not real?

...a sad realization for us all :(

NAY

I don't think there's a single "actor" on the planet today that I loathe more than this man. Just thinking about watching one of his movies (especially Ali... one of the only two movies I've ever fallen asleep at the theatre watching), makes me want to gag.

Hmm...Undecided. Six Degrees and Men In Black were good, Bel Air was hilarious, the original Bad Boys was ok, he was decent in the shitty Ali, but the rest of his stuff SUCKS.

So, Ya-Nay.

I love Will Smith, so it's a big YAY for me. I might be a little biased because Bad Boys I + II are my two favorite movies. But the guy just oozes with charisma. He seems like a nice guy to be with or work with, and his performances are great. See: Enemy of the State, Ali, Bad Boys

I like Will Smith, a funny and likable actor. Loved him on the Fresh Prince.

I'm a little in the middle with him. I liked him in Fresh Prince, and the original Bad Boys, and especially 6 Degrees In Separation, but then he lost my interest, and he started to really annoy me with his attitude, he seemed really cocky and in to himself. I didn't mind Bad Boys 2, and he was good in Ali, but his other work wasn't of any interest to me, and it all could just be an act to 'entertain the public', but his personality isn't appealing to me. I will give him points though for being a good actor when the occassion calls for it, and he's good looking. Just no more Wild, Wild West.

Nay. I've actually never watched "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" (I don't watch much TV), but I've seen 6 of his movies: Men in Black, Men in Black II, Independence Day, Bad Boys, Ali and the down-right terrible Wild Wild West. Now, I will admit to Men in Black being one of my guilty pleasures (the first one only--the second one sucked big time), but it's not like he made the movie good. As for Ali, I wasn't really fond of the movie, but I will admit that his performance in it was actually pretty good. Not sure if it was deserving of an Oscar nomination, but still pretty good. So out of the 6 movies of his I've seen, I liked one (but didn't think he was that good in it), and thought he was good in another (but didn't really like the movie itself). The other 4 are just awful, in my opinion. Once again, nay.

His filmography is made up of only two decent flicks (SIX DEGREES OF SEPARATION and ALI) and a dozen turds, the worst ones being MEN IN BLACK II, BAD BOYS, WILD WILD WEST and INDEPENDENCE DAY. Well... NAY!

Before The Pursuit of Happyness I thought he was good. But now, after that movie, I think he's great.

I don't think he deserved his oscar nomination for Ali. But he absolutely did for The Pursuit of Happyness. Infact, IMO, he actually deserved to win. That's how great of a performace I thought it was.

He was a solid yay. Now he's a HUGE YAY!
