Wow! I just bought this movie at MVC for £5. I hadnt seen it before so i thought what the heck, it looks good. Boy was I right!
Ok Ok i'm a very emotional person, so i cried twice in the movie (When she jumped off the bridge and he finds her and she says "Why are you doing this to me" and at the end..... )
All in all it was a kick ass hour and a half, (the lip chew scene rules)!
anyone seen it?

Saw it loved it bought it on dvd. I really liked Melinda Clarkes commentary but Brian Yuznas was pretty irritating. All he did throughout the whole movie was talk about how hot she is now. You could tell it got a little old to her too so that was amusing.

not as great as the first, but damn it's a good movie. I liked the plot and such. It's 2nd best in the series. Part 2 is the worst, but I cant know for sure until I gives it a rewatch. I might buy this on DVD. good stuff.

As soon as I seen this dvd for sale I bought it. It was money well spent. This is a great movie with super special effects. I can't really blame Brian Yuzuna, Clarke isn't hard on the eyes. This movie was a giant step up from ROTLD2 which was a truely sad entry in the series.

Yeah, 'Return of the Living Dead 3' is a damn good film. I got my DVD quite cheaply too although iirc there's no commentary track on mine unfortunately. I'd rented it a couple of times over the years before buying it, and it'd always stuck in my memory as being something a bit different, and a slightly different take on the zombie concept.

Great film but it didn't really feel like a Return of the living dead film. You know what I mean?

I know exactly what you mean. This is probably because there are not a lot of zombies in Return of the Living Dead III. We are used to seeing mobs of zombies running around the streets taking over the whole town/world. But in this one theres just a few scattered zombies here and there, and it doesnt have that feeling of "everyones a zombie" that we get from the first and second films. In this one the zombies are just a few in the military complex and the girl who turns. This was probably due to budget restraints.
You know I just dont understand why part two gets dumped on so much. Its a fun horror movie in my opinion, not scary, and more oriented towards comedy, but in my opinion Return II is just a fun zombie romp, the type of film you watch with your friends on halloween night, you know fun times. Its not meant to be a serious zombie flick like Dawn or Dead, its just poking fun at the whole zombie idea, while at the same time delivering some kick ass looking zombies. Whats not to like?

ROTLD 2 was bad, in my opinion, is because it was extremely watered down version of the first for mainstream goers. It resorted to extremely childish humor, had the most obvious plot twists, and I couldn't even care about these character at ANY level. If you want to understand my opinion better, read Arrow's review. I agree with it 100%.
As for ROTLD 3, I really loved it. I loved how developed the two main characters were and tried for a much different feel than the first two. Plus, the gore rocked. I don't see what's so wild about the lip chew scene. There wasn't even any blood spewing out! It was SO fake.

Well Jaywolf, for me this wasnt the type of movie that I want to "care about the characters", cause I know most of em will get their guts munched on...I just love the comedy and cheesyness of it, it is supposed to be a stupid and brainless (no pun intended) fun flick. And thats exactly what I got when I watched it. The first one had some of the same annoying characters, Ill admit it was a tad more serious, but essentially part IIs plot is the same plot as the first film.
I liked a lot of the zombies in part II, specially the one they find in the hospital and shoot in half. There were other really cool looking zombies too, Ill admit that it was watered down yeah, but this film was bieng like that deliberately because it was just meant to be a fun movie right from the get go...it wasnt trying to be a serious zombie movie, in fact neither was part one, and I like it for that.

Yeah, but part one was VERY genuine for the time where part two was just cashing in on the success of the first one. I did not find it fun AT ALL. It was extremely annoying in my opinion. As for gut munching on the characters, please point out where it happened. Most of the characters survived! They really sucked, too! They had no real point in this film, they needed to die and they didn't! The jokes were just too childish and stale in my opinion. There was nothing original in this entry. The only good thing was the return of the duo that was so much fun in the first. Also, I could at least give a damn about the characters in the first because they were fun people who had some background behind them. Better than none. ROTLD 2 was SO stereotypical, especially with the kid surviving. I wish that kid got it BIG time!

Ummm... I gues I'm one of the few people who actually liked Part 2. It had some cool looking zombies, Thom Mathews and James Karen, some really funny moments, and a few good effects. Yes Part 2 is unoriginal and watered down but it's cheezy corny fun.

First let me say that I enjoyed ROTLD2. Hell if I find it on DVD you bet your ass I'll buy it! The same goes with ROTLD3. I've yet to find it and I simply looooove that move!
The main characters were developed nicely and Julie...what can I say......MEOW! I'd let her eat me.... :p

Something about ROTLD3 annoyed the hell out of me. I dunno why. It could be all the whiny zombies in this one. They sounded like they all were constipated or somethin. Maybe its because I didn't like the love story/humanity aspect of the movie. I dunno, all I liked were mindy clarke's boobies and thats it! lol

Great Concept, bad execution
The 'Living Dead Girl' premise of the movie is really intriguing, as it promises that the movie will focus on the characters -- namely Mindy Clarke's slow descent from human to zombie & the boyfriend's failure to cope with his girlfriend's reality. That's a pretty solid core emotional message to add the karo syrup to.
But the movie doesn't work. I think that the problem is more the sets, & the failure to conduct attack sequences that work. Much less effort is involved in defining the one-dimensional & illogical villains of the piece. (These are some of the more annoying punks that you'll see in a movie). Indeed, much of the movie is spent wandering through sewers.
I blame Yuzna. As a producer, his heart's in the right place & he's found fincancing for some try great stuff (Re-animator). As a director he manages to ruin great core concepts (see this & Faust: Loveof the Damnned). I view this one as a missed opportunity more than anything.
But, at the right price, this one's still worth picking up... because Clarke still is that hot & because the premise is so intriguing.

I saw this film 4 years ago and I was really surprise by the somber tone it has.
The ending is very depressive but a bit expected to be honest.

I bought this film and held off on watching it for five years but tonight I finally popped it in.
They definitely were going for a more mature approach than the previous entry. Usually when things get cheesy in a franchise things just keep descending into more madness but here they tried to pull it back and succeeded.
That being said, I still didn't find the movie all that interesting. There really isn't any sense of city wide panic. There's only a select few zombies throughout the entire film and while the young couple in love are pretty sympathetic characters they alone were not enough for me. Sure, the River Man comes along halfway through and I thought he was pretty cool but unfortunately I thought his character was handled very sloppily in the end.
That Puerto Rican gang idea was pretty silly too. I guess they were there to up the zombie factor but instead they could have used more people that you actually could have given a damn about. What kind of gang spends their night playing an arcade any way?
Although this was a more serious attempt to continue the series I remember having more fun with Part 2 so I'm not sure how these two films hold up against each other. I still need to see Rave and Necropolis though. I'm scared...
Return of the Living Dead 3 - 6/10
Well thats all for now GOoD JOURNEY my fellow schmoes.

Not as good as ROTLD but a hell of a lot better than part 2. Yuzna's contribution to the series was a hell of a lot of fun. Decent plot, mostly good acting and some great gore effects. And Melinda Clarke's really hot.
