Im sure I'm probably in the minority here, but after watching Freddy's Dead again (1st time in like 10 yrs) I really actually ENJOYED IT! There was only one scene that war really stupid (granted he jokes in all of em, and you could say they're ALL stupid) was when he was playin the video game, making Road Trip's Breckin Meyer jump up and down like an idiot... That was just retarded... But I liked the rest of the movie, and I think I'll definately be buying it! I thought about gettin the whole Boxed Set, but the only 2 Elm St. movies I didnt like were part 2 and 5...

I didn't really mind it that much, really cheesy, and rather funny, overall it wasn't too great, but it was entertaining.

I enjoyed it somewhat. It was pretty entertaining cheese and I hate to say it I enjoyed it more then part 7 which did nothing at all for me. I liked the video game part. YOU FORGOT THE POWER GLOVE! haha.

I didn't find it cheesy. But I will admit there were more jokes than needed. It gave us more insight into Freddy's origins, and overall I thought it was pretty good.

I really liked this movie. The only draw back I have with it is the bitch that plays Freddy's daughter. Everytime she came on screen she got on my nerves. I can't explain why it was just something about her. I mean the person playing the character! I wanted Freddy to slash that bitch up 200 different ways. She still gets on my nerves anytime I see the movie. I think its just an instant dislike.

Most of the sequels are underrated, and Freddy's Dead is no exception. Yeah, it's uber-campy, but it entertained me. It was a treat delving into Frederick's past.

Not even "NOW I`M PLAYING WITH POWER!"

"GREAT GRAPHICS!"

IMO, this one is the worst offender in the "Wisecrackin` Freddy" department. But I guess it`s alright if that`s what you`re in the mood for.

I LOVE THIS MOVIE, it introduced me to freddy i the 1st place. Hey Elgyn, those quotes, "Now i'm playing with power" and "Great grphics" is what my friends and i say all the time when we play games, Its in my number 3 rating. My favorite quote is....(theres alot of them which i find funny and dont take seriously like a scary movie, but a fun film) "Well what do you calll that, Rational?" ........Priceless........

I enjoy this as a cheesy fun time, but not as a serious FREDDY film. But I do find it good, funny, cheesy fun. I think Arrow was a little TOO hard on it. Sure, it sold Freddy out into comedy, but it sure was fun to watch.

"But you forgot... THE POWER GLOVE!" is one of the funniest lines in movie history.

I dont think you in the minority in liking this one noahx29, this films preatty solid, and it gaves the idea (at least at the time of its release) that Freddy was finally really dead. Of course they pulled a "death of superman" on us, but it had us going for a while there...specially since they took so long to do part 7. I remember seeing this in theaters with my 3-d glasses, it was a trip! I really enjoyed the hell out of this one!

It did up the comedy a little too much, but thats been a part of Freddy films since the first few films, so it kind of like went with the territory. I enjoyed seeing Alice Cooper and Rosanne Bar in their respective cameos, that was a cool surprise.

And the fx were enjoyable, I didnt much like the "demon" creatures at the end though, but overall, the film was very entertaining.

I can't watch this movie straight through. It had not too bad of a story line, but freddy was too over the top stupid. I liked the flasbacks of her seeing her dad do what he does to kids and stuff. That had a certain darkness to it.. I am a big fan of freddy, but part 2 and 6 are just crap..

Hate to break the ribbon of happiness going on here but if this had been the first nightmare I had watched, I probably wouldn't have seen any more of them. I didnt like anything about it, and I agree with CarrieCarrie on the girl - she instantly grated on my nerves too

I thought it was good, but then again I watched it when I was like 12, so I thought it was really scary. Now when I see it, it's a piece of shit covered in more shit. Freddy is a shadow (and a joke for that matter) of his former self. The only notables are that Alice Cooper is in the movie and we finally get to see Robert Englund in a Nightmare film without his makeup on. Oh yeah, and Roseanne and Tom Arnold are in here as well. *groan*. . .

You saw Robert without makeup in part 3 as well - playing one of Freddy's 100 fathers in the flashback sequences with his mother.

Nope, I didn't. He's in both, I think it is the same footage in part of it actually.

There's a fine line between popcorn fun and dammit-they-screwed-us-fans-again, and having Freddy ride a broomstick cackling isn't popcorn fun, it's just plain bad. No wonder this did poor at the box office. Wes Craven had to come in and save Freddy's ass in New Nightmare. Jason has his Part 8, and Freddy has his Part 6.

He plays the bus driver in the beginning as well, and the nurse in part four. I don't like Freddy's Dead, but there are a few decent qualities in this movie. Some of the music is decent, Freddy's voice sounds great when he's not cracking jokes, and some of the flashback scenes were eerie. The kills were really shitty in my opinion(where's the glove?) and the SFX weren't always top notch(the ending). It's a bad one with a few redeemable spots, but it's too cheesy and not scary enough. This is supposed to be Krueger's final movie, why not make it great?

I actually got a kick out of that scene. I first saw it as an impressionable youth, back when I was afraid of both Freddy Krueger and the Wicked Witch of the West. Needless to say, my genitals retracted at the sight of Freddy riding a broomstick. It doesn't startle me anymore (well, I'm still afraid of the Wicked Witch), but it does give me a warm sense of nostalgia.

I think that you're apart of the group who like the MTV version of Freddy. While it's fun in some aspects to see some of that stuff, the original Freddy (Parts 1-3, New Nightmare) was that much better. He was funny in a scary way and didn't need to act like a retard to get people's attention. Face it, that Freddy would kick the MTV version's ass 3 times over.

Interesting, because I enjoy both Friday 8 and Nightmare 6! On a camp level at least.

I almost think you were taking a sublte jab at younger horror fans with that last post. I myself am not what I would consider "younger" horror fan (being in my mid 20's) but I was a bit offended by that. I like Freddy's Dead, even though It did 'sell freddy out to humor', but come on, did anyone ever find this guy scary? Certainly not me that's for sure.

My only beef with the film is that it was supposed to be his last go-round so to speak, and in that respect it did not do him justice. New Nightmare did an admirable job that's for sure, but I think to say that it 'Saved Freddy' is a bit melodramatic. Come on now, the ending did suck big balls.

Anyways, I am also the person who curses out the day that Halloween H20 and Ressurrection were ever concieved, so perhaps my lack of hate for the latter version of Freddy is that I was never a DIEHARD nightmare fan.

I think Freddy's Dead just has this very unique atmosphere that I enjoy.

To those who enjoyed Freddy's Dead: Good for you, I for one didn't like this one. Not because of the bad bad ending (okay, maybe that has something to do with it :p) but the main thing I didn't like here was "Funny Freddy" whom I have dubbed.

Although, the plot was interesting to say the least. Freddy having a child who was taken away from him was a cool twist to his motive of killing. The body count was a dissapoitment but I only hated one kill and that was the videogame death. The other two were good and gooey. But I hated the Dream Demons subplot to this, it gave away Freddy's mysterious way to the dream world IMO, it would of been better if we didn't know why and how he could do what he did but instead they threw in the "tad-poles".

I didn't like this one bit but I suppose every series has to have a bad one somewhere, and Freddy's Dead is just that.

Well, I certainly don't belong to a group of any sort. I love the first three films and New Nightmare is my favorite installment. It's just that I can appreciate Freddy's proclivities toward camp in addition to his sinister side. In my book, this flick is much less hollow and commercialized than the so-so NOES4.
