He's back! Arnie's 3rd Terminator outing, RISE OF THE MACHINES, topped the weekend box office with a nice little sum of $7,309,417. His debut knocked the lovely angels down 50% with $1,766,897, and after 3 weeks the FULL THROTTLE team have $15,496,241. DADDY DAY CARE and BRUCE ALMIGHTY both dropped 1 spot and 46%, but have cumulated some healthy totals. Eddie's father tactics have earnt him $13,352,408, whilst Jim Carrey playing God has roped in $18,502,205. Staying put for another week is THE LIZZIE McGUIRE MOVIE and SINBAD. Hilary Duff's family friendly comedy dropped 36%, but has totalled $4,491,720 in 8 weeks, whilst the Dreamworks adventure has summed up $3,989,727 after only 3 weeks. HULK continues to drop and perform under expectations. This week the angry CGI effect dropped 62% with $432,615. After 4 weeks it has $9,141,971 to its name. The slutty/sex antics of THE REAL CANCUN remain in the Top 10, but only just. The reality flick dropped 49% and has gathered up $1,112,279 after 2 weeks. Nick Nolte's drug taking thief slipped under the Top 10 radar to debut at #12. THE GOOD THIEF managed to steal $114,524. RELOADED and 2 FAST 2 FURIOUS were another pair of big movers this week, down 54% and 58% respectively. After 10 weeks, the Keanu Reeves sequel hangs around at #13 with a total of $33,217,632, whilst the fast cars of John Singleton's sequel sit at #14 with a 7 week total of $13,755,859. The mocumentary comedy A MIGHTY WIND scored a placing at #16 on their round of preview screenings with $70,258. Acclaimed drama WHALE RIDER continues to go well till the very end. Only dropping 29%, the New Zeland made gem has earned $7,834,695 after 11 weeks. Rounding out the charts was the other new release fo the weekend, PERSONAL VELOCITY. The short story drama slipped in at #20 with $55,139.

THIS WEEK (July 24th): A mixed bag of goodies this week, starting off with George Clooney's directorial debut CONFESSIONS OF A DANGEROUS MIND . The well cast drama goes up against another well cast flick, the thriller CONFIDENCE starring Ed Burns, Dustin Hoffman and Rachel Weisz. A MIGHTY WIND gets its national release following on from its Advance Screenings. Also set for release is 'The Fast and the Furious' on bikes pic BIKER BOYZ .

I think T3 has another week at #1 on his hands next week, seeing as this weeks releases aren't Number 1 material. I think CONFESSIONS.... will do well for itself as it has been getting a decent amount of publicity, and great reveiws, whilst I think A MIGHTY WIND may be the worst performer. I see CONFIDENCE and BIKER BOYZ going Top 10, despite the latter recieving very little publicity.

The Australian crime comedy BAD EGGS is also on the line-up for releases this week.

You're right Biker Boyz has taken a while to get here, but we certainly haven't waited as long as other countires will. It certainly isn't a must see for me though, so its not like it has been a 'wait'.

RELEASE UPDATE

Another movie has been added to the July 24th release date. That makes it no less than 6 movies attacking the charts next week. The latest addition is the Jamie Kennedy wigger comedy MALIBU'S MOST WANTED. This film has recieved next-to-nothing in publicity, so I won't be surprised if it doesn't go well. Then again, I have gathered it isn't that great of a movie anyway.

I can't understand! I can't get it! Will never be able to swallow the fact that people are flocking to Crappy Day Care more than Hulk!

Good start for T3. But it all depends on how much it will drop next week..

Btw, FilmBuff, do have any idea how wide Confessions... is going to be released? It will be sad to see it bomb as it did the the USA and UK.

There's a number of sites on the internet where I get my info from, it's really which ever one is updated first.

Confessions... isn't getting that large of cinema exposure, but there have been alot of surprise debuts for movies with little screen counts. 25th Hour and Secretary both had little counts, 15-16 I think, and both had Top 10 placings. Plus Confessions...has been reiceing pretty decent publicity, good reviews and the cast will no doubt draw audiences, so I suspect a small screen count but at least a top 10 placing.
