View Full Version : Limited Editions: Good or Bad?
My opinion is mixed on this subject. There's obvious arguments for why they would be good(value, collector's item), and for why they would be bad(Not enough of them). I would like to hear your opinions.
P.S. I think we can all agree on one thing: If a disc has the title "Limited Edition", Limit the number of copies!! I only say this because alledged "Limited" editions of Saving Private Ryan and Men in Black are still readily available ANYWHERE!

I agree bob. If something is billed as a 'Limited Edition' (usually with a price tag to match!) then it should be just that - otherwise it should be marketed as a 'Special Edition'.
I do like limited editions, however, and am the proud owner of the tins of Halloween 4 and 5, but I must admit that while the packaging is very nice and all that, I'm a bit pissed that you can now buy SEs of both of these films (well, with a 17 minute documentary) for about £12! This was the whole reason I bought the limited editions in the first place! Oh well, can't win 'em all I guess!

It's good if you buy them. It's bad if they are out of print.

well it's bad if their out of print and you don't own them, otherwise it's good. The people who own them are that much more special.
I like limited editions, but if they do make so many copies that after a year of their release there is no problem getting them - well that's just wrong.
