Holy shit! These news just made me pee in my pants! This is great! If this does get made we should be in for a very fun flick! Jhon Carpenter looks really positive about it and news that Jacki Chans interested in it holy christ thats amazing! I hope it happens!
Check it out from Dark Horizons:
Screenwriter Corey Mitchel spoke with producer Debra Hill and director John Carpenter last week, and indicated John is "totally on board" for a Big Trouble sequel providing that Corey can get it set up. Kurt Russell is rumoured to be similarly interested, and apparently work is underway in getting in touch with Jackie Chan regarding the project.
For those of you who thought Jhon Carpenter had nothing up his sleeve...this is such cool news...crossing my fingers, crossing my fingers...

I LOVED the first movie and I truly hope Carpenter does good with this.
With that said... Look at his last three movies:
Escape from LA (2/10)
Vampires (5/10)
Ghosts of Mars (3/10)
Eh... He's kind of lost his touch... Lets hope he gets it back to direct this sequel to oone of his best movies.

I haven't seen the original in quite a while. This one, though, should rock.

I should probably watch the original. Since I'm not a fan of Big Trouble (yet), I'm not as enthusiastic about this proposed sequel as you guys are, but at least we know that Carpenter is attached to...something. He's been hibernating for too long, although he's earned the right to do so.

Wow I have heard a bunch of news about Carpenter lately. That is always good news. His movies all rank up there with me. I think if this one is gonna work they have to get Kurt Russell back. His character made the first movie. Kurt and John have a good standing with each other so this could work out. While his newer movies aren't as good as his other efforts they are still not that bad. Escape from LA is one of my favorite B movie's of all time. Sure the special effects were kinda cheesy but I think he had only 30 million budget to work with. Everything is a lot more expensive to do compared to the Escape from new york days.
PS...they should get Kim Cattrail back and Wang I think it was.

I'm probably one of the few schmoes on the horror forums who hasn't seen the film yet. I will check it out soon enough though.
Will 20th Century Fox be handling this one to or is it too early to tell yet?

I know! Escape From L.A. was so stupid and cheesy. I don't understand why Roger Ebert or James Berardinelli liked it. I wasn't that big a fan of Escape From New York, but it's 16 years older and still has much better special effects. In contrast, EFLA looks like a video game in parts. It's sadly obvious that Carpenter is just losing it. :(

yes, this would be a wonderful Dream Come True, except for the fact that it's all in the 'idea' stage, so a couple years from now it will all be forgotten due to schedule conflicts, a new movie idea, lack of funding, or any other thing to keep it from happening.
I will be REALLY excited when I start hearing about Carpenter and Russell together again on set for the next Big Trouble in Little China movie... and hope it will be better than Escape from LA. I thought that was OK, but too hokey to be acceptable as a sequel to a more serious action movie that was Escape from New York.
Well, thanks for givin me something else to look forward to in life. :D

Not in my opinion,
Escape from L.A.- 8/10
Vampires- 9/10
Ghosts of Mars- 9.5/10

Looks pretty solid to me. I love the first one and I have no doubt Carpenter will kick ass with a second.

Its in more then just an idea stage, the script is written, Carpenter likes it and is interested in doing it...thats something.
As for Carpenters score lately, his allways been a hit and miss type of guy, I just hope that this ones one of his good ones like the first Big Trouble in LIttle China!

Oh boy, I sure as hell hope this happens, i've wanted a sequel to this movie for sooooo long. Most of the cast should return, especially Russell. The movie isn't the same without Jack Burton and the Porkchop Express. This is one of my all time fav movies, and I can't wait for a sequel if it comes to pass. It couldn't be that bad, and you all know what Jack Burton says in this situation....
What the hell?

And Jack would agree.

I hope this happens.I've seen Big Trouble in little china at least in access of 100 times.Carpenter would be wise to get Kurt and jackie Chan.As well as Kim Cattral.
However the 1st one fared badly at the box office(11 million),and this seems risky. While BTILC does have a huge cult following, that does not always translate into $$$.Take a look at Escape from LA.

Big Trouble in Little China is one of Carpenter's best. I hope this sequel can live up to the first. Man I guess I'm one of the few people who actually enjoyed Escape from L.A. although I've never seen Escape from New York.

I enjoyed Escape from LA too, not as much as Escape from NY but still, there was some good parts to it. I really hope though he doesn't do the same thing for this sequel. We need a sequel to this that either matches or even surpasses the original. The original sits in my dvd collection, and its one of the movies I watch most. I can't wait for a sequel!

I know, I know...I have sinned. If this sequel gets off of the ground, I'll have no choice but to watch the original. I don't think that this is going to make a dent at the box office, though. If Chan is involved, that widens the appeal, but you're still dealing with a sequel to a cult classic that the average mainstream moviegoer hasn’t seen.

Hey folks, Harry here... The excitement about a BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA sequel was one of those Forrest in Jenny's bed moments of premature... well, you know the film. ANYWAYSSS, it seems that Josh of the Wing Kong Exchange got a little too excited whilst talking with screenwriter Corey Mitchel.
Corey did indeed talk with Josh at Wing Kong, but was misunderstood on numerous points. One, Debra Hill has nothing to do with BIG TROUBLE IN LITTLE CHINA or a sequel to that work of genius. She was in the room with John Carpenter when Corey floated the idea of a BIG TROUBLE sequel, but wasn't a part of or a planned part of that possible future endeavor.
Two, Kurt Russell has not been approached about a sequel to this, the greatest film of all time (at least at 6:50am this morning), and hasn't discussed the possibilities with Corey Mitchel.
Third, Fox has approved no project.
So basically, what happened? Corey Mitchel, whilst working on the SNAKE PLISSKIN anime script, lightly tossed the idea around with John about doing a BIG TROUBLE sequel. It is one of John's favorite films of his. However, John hasn't agreed to attach himself to a Corey Mitchel scripted sequel. Corey hasn't scripted it. Fox isn't developing it, and basically it was a huge misunderstanding between Corey and Josh at Wing Kong.
