The brothers of Kings of Leon grew up under the Pentecostal rule of their evangelist father during the late '80s and '90s. Music was a major part of their upbringing, for their dad would play the Rolling Stones and Neil Young for his three sons while traveling across the southern United States. Kings of Leon — Caleb (guitar), Nathan (drums), and Jared Followill (bass) — spent much of their childhood and young adult life moving in and around America's heartland. They spent time in Oklahoma and Tennessee before making Nashville their permanent home in 1998. There, Kings of Leon started focusing on music. By 2000, Kings of Leon — taking Leon from the names of their father and paternal grandfather — was born. Their cousin, Matthew Followill, joined within months and a gritty southern garage rock sound quickly emerged. A deal with RCA followed in 2001 and their Holy Roller Novocaine EP appeared two years later. In July 2003, the band delivered their first full studio batch of Southern rock with Youth and Young Manhood.

Anybody else a fan?

I'm relatively new to the lads myself, but they're pretty darn kicking.

Their debut album, Youth and Young Manhood has pretty much been on a constant loop lately...and Happy Alone, Joe's Head and Red Morning Light are my definite favourites at the mo'...good mellow easy-listening (but highly decent) stuff I must say.

See the video for Red Morning Light HERE! (http://www.kingsofleon.com/frames.html)

So, thoughts...opinions folks...!?

Just thought I'd BUMP this one by saying that the boys are also very very very tasty as well.

Mmmmmm, humina humina.

Seriously folks...SEEK these kids out, you don't know what yer missing!

It's ever so mellow and jangly.

I saw a video for Molly's Chambers by Kings Of Leon.. and I really dig the song and feel. The song's got this awesome guitar hook throughout and the video has a psychedelic druggy cascading 70s feel. Reminds me a bit of Queens Of The Stone Age at times and I love it.

You can download the video on this site.. (although it won't be up for long)

I've only heard the one single, but really like it so far. I'll keep an ear out for more.

Definitely my cup 'o tea.

I liked 'Mollys Chambers' as well, don't think I'd buy the album though

Jesus...

Who resurrected this topic?

Anyway...I personally reckon Molly's Chambers is one of the weakest on the album...so if you're fond of THAT particular track, it's well worth the investment kids!

Jings! I've been working my way through an MP3 that Pyschocandy sent me (the man is a Saint - but not one of those over-rated ones like St Francis) and just can't seem to get past this album without turning the thing up full blast and dancing my wee - but firm - arse off. Great album, and along with the others mentioned in the best albums of 2003, third only to Radiohead and the 28 Dayls Later soundtrack.

That's it nothing more to say.
