Hey, a friend said there was some plan for a directors cut of daredevil coming out in a few month's. does anyone know if this is true or not? I would hate to wait for this "other" version if it isn't coming out, and there is the question of if it will be a better version.
Anyway, could use some help finding out

I would be major "pee'ed" if that was true, I had to pay £17.99 for the DVD that just came out (great film, I enjoyed it). But doesn't it seem like a waste of time to bring out a new DVD when the company already brought out one a few weeks ago?
Even if it was true I probably still wouldn't buy it, not for a long time anyways.

I hate when they put a dvd out and then come out with a special edition or a director's cut dvd months later. Do you really think people will go out and buy it when they already have the first dvd? I usually buy them when the first dvd comes out. They should put all the features on the dvd before releasing it and stop trying to squeeze more money out of us.

According to someone on these boards, there's a 2 and a half hour version of the film that the director wants to release, whether or not this is true i don't know tho

Yes its true, im pretty sure it was announced that one wqould come out as dd was at theatres and i think all thats needed is the date, most ppl knew this (including me, i still bought the normal dvd tho). It will feature a sh!tload more violence, more story and possibly a lil' tit.

i remember hearing about it a LONG time ago, and than i also remember hearing that those plans were scrapped. DOnt know why, but thats what i had heard. Besides, the company that is putting this out, is pretty good about double dipping ( i believe) they usually get it right the first time.

The way I understood it was that the director was planning on releasing two releases simultaneously, the PG-13 cut and a new R-rated version with a little extra violence. Later I heard there would be a full-on directors cut, complete with a lawyer subplot featuring Coolio and other little character-oriented scenes (which the movie could have used). And then the currently released DVD was announced, with not even a mention of deleted scenes on it, so I think there must be either a DC or R-rated version coming soon.
(I will be buying neither because I didn't like the movie.)

I'll be buying this Tuesday's release of Daredevil (9/10), and another edition, if it's released, but I pray 20th Century Fox releases the "full-on director's cut." What's the point of releasing a film with a bit more violence that'll make it "R," when you could put that in and a bunch of extra sub-plots?!?!

Unfortunately, there will always be people who will buy regardless the 1st version regardless of if they are aware a new version will be coming and a good percenatage will even buy both versions; especially die hard fans. Take Lord of the Rings for example. From what I heard, the original version WAS his PJ's director's cut. The Extend Edition was meant for Tolkeinphiles.
One of the first DVD's I was craving was Re-Animator Millenium Edition. What did my wife get my was the Special Widescreen Edition released years earlier. ME does have enough more features to tantalize a fan like me, but I have yet to purchase it. Why? I'm pretty much a cheapo.:p
From what I can see of reviews so far the existing DD DVD has way more than average features, I will buy it definitely. The only way I will buy a 'special edition' is if there is a lil' or average size tit!:D

I'm a member of superherohype.com's message board, and Mark Steven Johnson, the director, stops by every now and then. He commented that he's finishing up the director's cut, with more violence, about 30 minutes of extra scenes, and said it was "like a whole different movie." He said they do plan to release it, but may depend on the sales of this DVD, and it may be released in time for the Elektra, depending on the studio's decision

thanks for the info! i just watched this earlier tonight, and there were some parts that were just incredible and it seemed such a waste that the pace of the movie seemed really off to me (something that was disappointing), and so if an R rated 30 minute longer version of the movie comes out later, i'd probably buy it right away, whereas i'm reserved about buying the movie now, in its current state.

Daredevil director discussed this DVD on the Superhero Hype! message board, and this is what he had to say:
"The Director's Cut has no release date as of yet but will definitely be released and will either be rated R or Unrated. It's not only interesting to see what's added (which is over 30 minutes of story) but what has been deleted as well (i.e. no love scene, no confessionals--both for very good reasons which you'll see). You'll all have to let me know what you think in the end."
**NOTE: I was all excited that I had found something special, but I failed to see that 'Scarface' already mentioned it. FUCK! ;). I'll be more careful next time, and I need to find a better news source.***

My bro bought Daredevil: SE when it came out, so I guess if the 30 minutes warrents it (along with some cool extras), I'll consider buying it.

I already bought the Daredevil DVD that came out, I'm not sure I'll double dip for a director's cut. I did it once for LOTR, but that was because I bought the normal 2 disk edition when I bought my DVD player because I didn't want to have it without at least one movie.

Don't worry about it. I posted not long after he posted in that topic, and from what I've heard, I may rent the director's cut to see if it can pull a Blade Runner on us. The Daredevil people there do nothing but talk about how the DC will be. I complain about the fight scenes or the chemistry? I keep getting told "Don't complain, see the director's cut" as if they actually saw it
