Psychocandy

Has anyone seen this brilliant documentary by Werner Herzog? It examines the relationship between Herzog and that insane, force of nature Klaus Kinski. It's absolutely fascinating and both fiercely entertaining and at times quite touching (ironic when you consider the many moments of hatred between Kinski and Herzog that this documentary maps out). It's apparent both from this documentary and from the evidence of the movies they produced together that Herzog needed Kinski and vice versa. It's a fact that they produced their finest moments when working together. Anyone who is a fan of their five collaborations (Aguirre The Wrath Of God, Nosferatu, Fitzcarraldo, Cobre Verdi and Woyzeck) should make it their fucking mission in life to see this documentary. It's the stuff of insanity. 4/5

*Does a backflip of joy due to the seeing such a strong presence of Herzog appreciation rearing it's head in this forum*
I Love this movie. Plain and simple. This is one of the greatest documentaries I have ever laid my eyes upon. Psychocandy you hit it right on the nail when you said this is the stuff of insanity. You actually get to watch two completely mad individuals in their own different ways make art together. The result is a testimony to their strong characters and brilliance. The scene with the butterflies just stands out in my mind as being one of the most touching things I have ever seen in a movie. All in all a great documentary that I highly reccomend anyone who is interested in Herzog's and Kinski's work to check out.
