This surprised me a little to hear...

The sequel to the surprise horror-action hit "Anaconda", creatively
titled "Anacondas", will begin filming next month in Fiji, according to
The Hollywood Reporter. The sequel is set in the primitive jungle of
Borneo and is directed by Dwight Little ("Halloween 4", "Free Willy 2").
J.Lo fans needn't hold their breath - this time the cast is made up of
Johnny Messner, Morris Chestnut, Nicholas Gonzalez, Eugene Byrd, Salli
Richardson, Kadee Strickland and Carl Yune.

I dunno... The snake was good in the other, but it was definetly the best actor (other than Ice Cube) But still, how many snakes we talkin in this one, 2, 3, 10? I see this goin STV if you ask me.

It's my understanding that this sequel has been in development Hell for a few years. No one has made mention of this fact because...well, no one cares. They might even be shooting for a theatrical release. Wishful thinking? Maybe, but if there's one "killer snake" vehicle that deserves a theatrical run, I suppose it's this one. I actually enjoyed the original, but I could just be saying that because I've subjected myself to King Cobra and Python 2.

Actually I heard the sequel is to be named Anaconda 2: Black Orchid. It sounds really dumb with the Anacondas eating friggin orchids and that's what makes them so big.

Yeah thats what I heard too. They can call it whatever the hell they want, either way, doesn`t interest me much.
Do mainstream audiances even remember the original? I don`t even know why they`re making this a sequel.

The original made a mediocre splash when it first came out. I would have figured if they thought it was worth much in the money dept they would have released this sequal sooner. Ah well time will tell. I would probably see this if it came on TV and I just happened to be flipping through the channels but that's about it.

I loved the first one! The snakes were awesome and some of the chase scenes were good. Hopefully this one will be better

I like the first (6/10 or C+ or **) as well, and am up for a sequel.

I must admit I too wonder why they would bother with a sequel some 7 years later. You'd think that all the cheesy direct-to-video rip-offs would steal some of this film's thunder. That said, I quite like the original and would most likely see this when it came out.

The first was terrible. And they made that snake do things that are just impossible for anacondas.

Well, hopefully at the very least that the snakes don't scream like a tortured pig-The only "good" snake movie I've seen was MAYBE Venom, and I only say that because it's been so long since I've seen it that the only thing I remember about it is that it had a black mamba.

That was the original title, but it was dropped in favor of Anacondas.

I gave the original Anaconda a fair chance and watched it with an open mind. After doing so I can honestly say I still think it sucks. There is no need for a sequel. For those that liked the first movie I hope you like the second one if its ever made.
