I was going to buy one until I saw that blank DVD's are still close to $20 each, and I can buy DVD's for less than that usually.

I'll wait another year or two until the prices come down a little more.

Yeah until those blanks dvd's cost less, it's not worth it. When usually I buy new movies around the same price, or less. Bad investiment at this point.

I am sure they will keep the price of blank disc's sky high for a long as possible because as soon as they become like blank CDRW's it is over for the DVD industry.

You would have to be stupid not to invest 500 dollars on a burner then rent the DVD's and make Perfect copies for the price of a rental and a blank disc.

But I doubt that will happen as the movie industy will impose all sorts of copy protection methods that will make it almost impossible to copy let alone watch a DVD wihtout an approved player.

The future is grim I fear.
