What is up with they?! It was awful. It was trying way to hard to be the movie "It" and it didnt even come close! The main character looked like they were casting "Rosemarys Baby." There was not real plot, nothing made sense...like those scars people got [that looked like cigarette burns] for example. It left a million whys up in the air and no answers. If you watch the ending you will be upset, and if you watch the alternate ending youll be even more upset. What was the climax AND what are THEY and why the hell is there a 2 hour movie about them?!!!!!!!!!! I know I said worst movie ever, and that saying a lot, I was even kind to Mariah in "Glitter."

Oh, man. You musta really hated this movie!
I think it was really really bad myself, but not quite in comparison to Glitter. I mean, the first 5 minutes or so were decent. That's more than I can say of Carey's debut starring role.

I don't think this movie was smart; I think it was just silly. Felt like a Darkness Falls re-hash (which wasn't very good to begin with).

But yeah, I don't like this movie either.

Um, They did get released before Darkness Falls, but I saw DF first. And both films are terrible regardless of what came first or what copied what.

Darkness Falls was a moronic bore. It was sleep inducing! I wanted to like it, but it just sucked. I actually really liked THEY though. It's a nice moody film. It's like a horror character study. Really interesting and the ending was wicked!

For the record, I though IT was a terrible piece of crap, like pretty much all Stephen King movies. The only real excellent one was Pet Sematary.

"They" wasn`t great, but I thought it was an okay time-waster. At least it had moody atmosphere and good cinetography.
"Darkness Falls" on the other hand was just pathetic. STAY IN THE LIGHT!

No smart horror movies aren't bad, but They sure as hell was! :p

It was probably the worst horror movie of 2002, but definitely not the worst ever.

"They" never should have made this movie.

haha, nice one! :D

I saw it and really disliked it also, I saw darkness falls first and hated it and then I saw THEY and although it had its positive points, it was also pretty bad. It seemed so rushed and didn't do too much with the source material that it never ended up getting my attention too much. All the characters seemed dull and un-interesting to me.

Oh yeah, all other Stephen King movies suck like Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, and Dolores Claiborne. Yep, they suck.

I thought They was slow but average overall with an ending I liked.

I'm sure he was referring to the horror movies from SK books not the movies you listed (none of which are really horror).

As for They it was good enough. I can't say that I'll ever watch it again but it was enjoyable

Exactly! You hit the nail on the head. I was talking about just the Horror movies, but I guess I should have been more specific. I thought Shawshank and Dolores were very good. I haven't seen Green Mile though, but that's because I thought it looked stupid. However, lately I've been kind of interested in maybe checking it out. That's a pretty big step for me since I used to think I'd most likely never see it.

They (6/10)
Darnkess Falls (3/10)

They isn't the best horror movie ever, but there are a lot of other shitty horror movies out there. *cough*DarknessFalls*cough*

Wow I thought The Shining, Carrie, Christine, Stand By Me, Children of the Corn, Misery, etc were all terrific movies. Well maybe not Children of the Corn but it was still somewhat entertaining. Hell I even liked Dreamcatcher quite a bit.

Back to They, I agree what a complete bore. I thought it was horrible and I am always generous with horror movies. "They" was probably the worst horror movie I have seen in the past 5 years. I love smart horror with the rest of them but I did not find anything smart about this movie with its amateurish acting, boring story, and complete lack of scares.
