I have always wondered this on the Howling; curious if there is a clue in the movie somewhere I have just been missing.

Did the people in the colony or at least the good doc know about Eddie? That he was a (HIGHLIGHT:SPOILERS) serial killer?

And also...why did the doc send Karen and her hubby to the colony in the first place? He says for a nice retreat/rest, but if you have seen the movie you know how contradictory this is. He didnt seem like a bad guy so I was curious...? Maybe it would be best to respond with spoilers on this, as I don't want to ruin the movie for anyone.

To the first question, I know the colony knew Eddie because he was the "sexy" werewolf-female's brother. I don't know if he was considered a serial killer, or just a misbehavin' colony member (giving into the wolfiness, so to speak).

To the second question, good question...unless the doc was confident in the good reformed behavior of the colony and didn't think there would be trouble--silly man, but then there wouldn't be a movie, would there?

That makes sense...thanks for clearing that up. I guess its the only place the doc had to send her. Maybe he also wanted to give the colony a sort of test drive to see how...."tamed" they really had become?

Is The Howling as a movie any good? I've heard nothing but bad stuff about the sequels (I even saw The Marsupials on SPACE here in Canada *shudder*). The Special Edition DVD arrives this month, and I was thinking of picking it up if it's any good.

Personally I think the Howling is excellent. A lot of people prefer AWIL but I dont'. Yes the sequels are horrid!! Avoid 2 and 3 at all costs. 4 is cheesy fun but not that good. 5 I actuallly liked. AVOID 6 and 7.

But the first one I hold close to my heart.
