Nate6, Razorblade posted his 5 minutes before me, and please close mine.

***

Bob Hope was one of the greatest comedians ever. This is a truly sad, sad passing, and a great loss to the entertainment industry. He will be dearly missed. RIP.

Terrible, awful, sad news. Hope was not only hilarious, but all of the work he did entertaining the American troops during times of war deserve to be noted and commended.

They're not making them like Hope anymore, folks.

RIP.

My homepage is cnn.com so as soon as I logged on today I was kinda winded.

The spot behind the back of my eyes kinda got ressurized with surprise and slight awe.

The man was 100 years old, though... he had a good run. His birthday was just recently and no one talked much of his failing health, so I wasn't expecting him to pass so soon. I thought he might have had a couple more years in him.

I was thinking about the kind of life he had. His grandfather was probably in the civil war. Hell, his FATHER could have been in it. I wonder what kinds of memories he had pass away with him. Goes to one of my favorite quoutes: "All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in the rain..."

the man was a legend and a genuine star it was fitting that he made it too 100,and the world of showbiz will miss him.

To watch the man, to see him perform, he had enough energy, vitality, and charmisma to make you think "This man can live forever". If only that were true.

But in his own way he always will, because he will be forever remembered as a great man, and loved one. RIP.

Damnit, I knew he was going to pass sometime...(not in a evil way, just that he's 100)

RIP Mr. Hope. :(

Well, I said damn when I saw the news on my opening homepage of SFGate when I logged on. This is sad news. The very few of the last classic greats got their call. I remember watching him on a NBC special 10 years ago approx that was on Saturday Night and it was a celebrity all star event and one of the celebs featured Bob Hope and he was telling his signature jokes. I dunno but his punchlines were making ME crack up. OH well :( ty Mr Bob Hope, I enjoyed your grace, style and humor. You will be missed.

Like I said in DH's thread...

Great man...it's fitting that he lived to the ripe old age of 100 years.

That's a plentiful life...and a man with talent aplenty.

My thoughts to the Hope family.

R.I.P Bob.

Laird, this is harsh. Bob Hope was a hero of mine, not to mention Gregory Peck, Katherine Hepburn, Buddy Ebsen...

Hope was endlessly talented, funny, and a brilliant comedian.

RIP, sir.

PS. I can just hear Thanks for the Memories on NBC tonight :(

I echo the senitments of many.

It's a sad passing, but he did manage to live to be 100 and we're fortunate he was able to be around as long as he was.

RIP
Thanks for the memories.

my homepage is IWON.com, and i always check the entertainment part of the page.... it is a big shock. If there ever was a man i thought was gonna be around forever, it was Hope!

But look at the way he went out... 3 months after his 100th birthday, at his bed side with his family and a priest and before his passing he gave everyone by him a kiss on the forhead and he died with a smile on his face (This is all according to the article on Iwon.com)

100 years old though.... that is so choice... a full Century of life and of making other peoples lifes that much greater!

If there is a Heaven, you know Hope got the Biggest Suite in the place!

RIP dude

RIP, Bob Hope.

It seems that all the great entertainers are going away one by one...

But damn, 100 years old. That's another great feat of his.

Well, they made Carrot Top, so I must disagree.

But on a serious note, a real serious one, in fact, this is crushing news. We've lost some greats this year, some damn good ones.

Rest In Peace, Bobby.

Sad news, but he lived a great life. He was a fantastic performer that never failed to entertain. His contributions to entertaining overseas troops will be his legacy, in my opinion.

An admirable entertainer and human being who reportedly didn't even lose his legendary sense of humour on his deathbed. Not quite as old as Methusalem, 100 years still provide plenty of memories for many decades to come.

R.I.P., Bob :(

So long Bob, and thanks for all the fish - er, laughter. Thanks for all the war activities, that kind of help to our troops is a great thing.

As I've said before when ancient celebs die, I don't consider it a very sad thing. It's a part of life, and when someone dies at that age, it is hardly unexpected. He had a great life and will never be forgotten.

That sucks a lot.

Still, 100 is a really long time. He spent them well.

RIP.

This new hit me like a punch to the stomach today, and it's truly a great tragedy the man had to go, but he lived a long, full life, and he has entertained various members in my family who served in various wars from various generations. He was a great man, a tuely funny guy and will be greatly missed by his undying legions of fans and admirers.

RIP
