Let me get this straight, they are going to remake a splatter movie and make it pg-13...... makes NO sence at all...........News that will make you cry (http://www.creature-corner.com/news3/jul28dodremake.php3)
I guess they thought Resident Evil was a success, so kids will watch Zombies.
At least a Zombie movie is being made. It's better than no Zombie movies being made.

What?????????????????????????????????????????????
This isthe worst thing I have heard. Ever since that woman took over Universal it's been screwed now THIS??? I can't believe it. It's a freaking zombie movie! It's supposed to have gore. What is wrong with them? I mean COME ON! This is disgusting. Extremely disgusting. I thought the Michael Bay producing a remake of TCM was bad. My God. I was going to see this movie but now I will boycott it. This is just horrible.

I like someguy am also going to boycott this movie if it's PG-13. COme on schmoes, lets get a boycott going, let hollywood know we're sick of this cutting down movies for PG-13 rating shit!!!
I like tihs comment the best
"If this does come to pass and "Dawn" does receive a PG-13 rating, I hope genre fans are smart enough to exercise their right to renounce such autonomous business decisions. Demand, if you're going to get screwed, to get screwed with respect! So what if the sets look fantastic, and the reinserted gore looks appropriately disgusting, and the film has Ving Rhames? You want your bloody disgusting gore from the start!"

I just visited the Diabolical Dominion and it had sources that said it was going to be rated R. Either way i'm not going to see this movie because the original is THE zombie movie and it would be impossible to remake for anything but Unrated.

I had heard that the PG-13 rating was just a dirty rumor. IMO, if you, as a filmaker, see Dawn of the Dead as a classic, something with enough name recognition, a film that is well-respected by both cult fans and critics, that you would want to try a big budget remake, why would you shit on it and shoot for a PG-13 rating? Blashphemy! I've heard people here say that they'll be aiming for a younger audience, you know teenagers. Well, I was a teenager once and was a gore hound then too. Just because you're young doesn't mean you're stupid. True fans, no matter the age, will see this for what it is.

I don't buy it. No matter how much the studio will try to tone down the violence, it's absolutely impossible to do a DAWN OF THE DEAD remake with a pg-13 rating. I mean, you can't really make a film about disfigured undeads tearing apart human beings before eventually getting killed by a shot in the head without a hard R, right?! As I said, I don't buy it.
But if that's true, then this is really a fucking sad day. First Bob Hope, now this!

I was watching MTV2 today and they showed the VJ Ian Robinson on the set. They showed some behind the scene stuff and he got to play a zombie, which is pretty cool. Oh, by the way, This is the WORST idea for a remake OF ALL TIME!

Dawn of the dead was a masterpiece. Even if it does get an R it still won't even live up to half of what Dawn was.

man, THeres no way in hell I would have belived that. PG-13 zombie movies, ahahahah dont' make me laugh, and if that was the case, it would just be a 70 min movie lol. Anyway, glad the rumor was cleared. I have faith in this movie now, at least its a new zombie movie, even though its a remake of a classic, it will just make me like the original more if it sucks. Hell the TCM remakes starting to look good, so i'm giving the remakes one chance. Least till the Suspira one comes out lol

There's a great Romero page called www.homepageofthedead.com that has info on all of his movies and a special section dedicated to this upcoming remake. They don't have an overwhelming amount of info though. They do have a couple of pics of the mall, etc. However, if you're even remotely a fan of the zombie king I suggest checking this page out.

The number of people stating categorically that they are NEVER gonna see a movie long before it even hits the screen is starting to annoy me. I remember way back when the TCM remake was initially mentioned a lot of schmoes were blasting it and saying they were never gonna see it. Now the trailer is out and the reaction has mainly been impressed and surprised. What is the point in saying you will never see a movie? What if it comes out and gets fucking brilliant reviews right across the board? What if (i'll admit this is very unlikely) Arrow reviews it and states that in his opinion it's better than the original? Are you still not going to see it? Me? I'm inclined to wait until I have something tangible to judge a movie on (Dawn Of The Dead remake included) before I start ripping it to pieces. (Unless of course that movie happens to be Tomb Raider II...i'm never, ever gonna see that piece of shit). :D

Well said Psychocandy, but that doesn't diminish the fact that the movie shouldn't have been made in the first place. It could be good. Savini's Night remake was awesome, but i would have rather seen all that talent (Romero-writer, Savini- Director, and a great cast) go toward something different and original. Once a remake is made and in theatres then it's time to judge the movie by itself, but it is impossible not to compare it to the original and that it the filmmakers and produers own fault. If they want to use the name recognition for a positive (just making money), then they have to take the shit that comes with it.

I wouldn't get too upset over this, the movie hasn't even been rated yet, this is just a speculation. Aiming doesn't mean will be so everyone don't be so pissed just yet. Besides, this will blow the big one. If it is in fact PG-13, I will save my money and hopefully everyone else will too so we don't see anymore of these fucking remakes (like Susperia).

When MTV2 showed the zombies they looked pretty bad and i was surprised. I thought no matter what the movie was like the zombies would be cool, but the few that they showed had minor cut prothetics and a bit of blood. It did look like the cast was having fun though.

LoL! Ain't that the truth!
I am annoyed at the fact that they decided to remake this movie. I will say this though to see DOTD in theatres remade or not would be kewl in my opinion. In fact they should jes' skip the remake idea and show the original! Hell I'd go see it more than once.

It's Dawn of the Dead , so i Have to see it . I still don't understand why they didn't tap Savini to direct and Romero to write and produce , it's the only way the film would work , in my opinion .
I don't have high hopes for this , epsecially when the MTV pandering to the youngin's mentality will no doubt be in effect . Think Final D and Scream with Zombies .
I'm just glad Jennifer Anniston won't be making an appearance , or will she ?
Ever since the Mummy , " zombies' have been slowly going mainstream , they're being emasculated . Leave zombie films to the experts , not some airheaded hack who thinks he knows what he's doing .

It's not going to be pg-13. That's already been established. Just another rumor started by some morons on the net that don't want to see th film be made.
Probably the re-re's that created that online petition...
But anyways, Dawn didn't focus highly on it's gore ratio that much, at least until we saw some biker-dudes. A lot of it was character-strengthining plot lining craftwork. As long as the story was great, I wouldn't care what the rating was. However, gore in a zombie film will always be appreciated, no doubts there.

Dawn didn't focus on GORE????? What movie was I watching?
Blown up head, gory gunshot wounds to the head, shotgun wounds, the top of someone's head sliced off, guts being ripped up, zombies chowing down on limbs, more gunshot wounds and loads more!
Well, maybe my interpretation of gore is different. Anyways, if this isn't adult oriented then I ain't seeing it.

Dawn had it's gory moments, but a lot was few and far between. A lot of just sitting around in a mall depressed, and getting frustrated. Seemed almost like a documentary social-study on four humans left to themselves at times, as opposed to constant gore. Check the time in film in-between all of those gory spots. It's almost as if we're kept dragging until the big BANG towards the end with the guts being ripped open and such.
The cast at the least seems adult oriented enough for it to make you scratch your head wondering why it could be of PG 13.

I understand what you mean now. There are gaps between the extreme gore. And it is a movie about society, Romero has said that numerous times. Man, I love Dawn of the Dead.

Personally, I would like to see the DAWN remake recieve a PG-13, just because I want as many reasons as possible to not see it and loathe its existence. Why are they DOING this??!!
