OK..today i went and rented Jurrasic Park 3, yes i like this movie. Anyway i get home and realize that i picked up the full screen version. I forget now taht instead of putting both versions on the same disc they put out 2 different versions, so i decide to bring it back and ask to exchange it for the widescreen version, so i go back to BLOCKBUSTER, and ask them about this and come to find out, THEY ONLY GOT THE FULL SCREEN VERSION...WHAT KIND OF MORONS ARE RUNNING THIS STORE??..Now dont get me wrong, i love renting from blockbuster, but if i wanted to watch something in full screen i would GET THE VIDEO!!..ok maybe not..but still..Its nice to have the special features...but man...gotta have the widescreen...so you may comment on what i just said or comment on the following...Why do you watch dvd's? are you like me and like the excellent picture and widescreen or do you like all the extra goodies on the side?

Oh, Moviefreek... tsk, tsk, tsk. From the subject you already know this belongs in the DVD Discussion forum...
And yes, I watch DVDs for all the reasons you mentioned... better picture/sound, extras and widescreen...

Apparently the disease of stupidity is going around. I rent most of my movies from this little corner store because they're only a block from my house (that's the main reason), they have super-cheap rentals (CDN$3 which is about US$2), they have all the new movies when they come out, and a fairly decent pick of old movies available. Now, that said, they had 7 copies of JP3 the day it came out (it's a small store... 7 copies is a lot of any movie in this place), and not a single widescreen. WTF? Annoying bullshit!
You know what pisses me off? DVDs use to almost always come double sided with fullscreen on one side and widescreen on the other. Why the hell did they ever stop that?!?!? that ruled! It's just stupid what they do now with the two separate versions being sold. Go back to putting them both on one disc.

over here it's very rare to find a FS version of any flick, every DVD seems to be in widescreen. I guess the market over your way has changed from movie enthusiasts to just regular people.

Here's an article from:dvd.ign.com that explains the whole Blockbuster Widescreen, Full-Screen battle
An IGN DVD reader emailed us right before publish tonight with an MP3 attached to their email. The file was a recording of an answering machine message from Blockbuster video about the whole widescreen issue.
I will not post the MP3 here because it contains a phone number of a Blockbuster rep and I don't want to deluge him with countless calls, but here is a transcript of the call:
"...after complaints concerning the fact that we do not carry widescreen DVDs in our stores and I am calling to let you know that we will be changing that policy.
Going forward with the February buy, we will make every effort to buy the widescreen version in addition to pan & scan versions on all DVDs that are released that we are actually buying. "
This is great news to all Widescreen DVD lovers! http://www.joblo.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
And I've got proof that they are beginning to take action, I was just @ my local Blockbuster yesterday and I saw Jurassic Park and The Lost World which they had in Widescreen for rent. http://www.joblo.com/ubb/cool.gif
